Samuelsson agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson notched an impressive 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 25 games with the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate last season after being acquired by Carolina via trade in Feb. That spike in production had to come as a bit of a surprise to the Hurricanes' organization, as Samuelsson only tallied five points (one goal, four assists) in 40 games with AHL St. John's before being dealt to Carolina. The 25-year-old blueliner will likely spend the majority of the 2017-18 campaign in the minors, but he could also log some time with the big club if the Hurricanes are in need of reinforcements due to injury.

Samuelsson was acquired by Carolina on Tuesday, having been exchanged for Keegan Lowe.
EDGE Analysis
Both Samuelsson and Lowe are defense-first blueliners, so it appears the move was made to give each player a fresh start at new organizations. Additionally, Samuelsson will be playing for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, a team coached by his father Ulf Samuelsson. The Canes will be hoping that this family dynamic can provide a spark to Philip's development.

Samuelsson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canadiens on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson has found it tough to find his way in the NHL after being drafted by the Penguins in 2009, appearing in just 13 games with no points to show for it. The 24-year-old spent a majority of this past season with AHL Springfield, scoring four goals and adding 27 helpers, and has some work to do if he'd like to establish himself with Montreal.

Samuelson has been assigned to AHL Springfield, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson saw 16:00 worth of ice time in Sunday's loss to the Sharks, with his demotion to the AHL on Monday presumably signaling that one of the Coyotes' ailing blueliners is on track to return to action Tuesday night against the Oilers.

Samuelson was recalled from AHL Springfield on Friday on emergency conditions, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear which defenseman is dealing with an injury, but the recall provides some extra depth along the blue line if necessary. Samuelsson has been a force offensively in the AHL, tallying 30 points in 53 games, but his modest ice time (averaged 15:51 in three games with the Coyotes) likely limits his upside with the parent club even if he draws into the lineup.

Samuelsson was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson had been called up to provide depth for the Coyotes defense. Defenseman Nicklas Grossman recovered from a lower-body injury more quickly than expected however, and thus necessitated Samuelsson going back to Springfield to open up a roster spot. Samuelsson has skated in three contests this season for Arizona.

Samuelsson was recalled from AHL Springfield on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson will provide some depth along the blue line with both Stefan Elliott and Nicklas Grossman dealing with injuries that could force them out of the lineup Monday. If that's the case, Samuelsson would be in line to draw into the lineup against the Ducks. However, it seems likely that his run with the Coyotes will be a short one.

Samuelsson was assigned to AHL Springfield.
EDGE Analysis
Samuelsson played 73 games in the AHL last year, registering 24 points and a plus-5 rating. He should be one of the fist defensemen called up to the Coyotes should the need arise.

Samuelsson was assigned to AHL Portland on Wednesday. Samuelsson played in each of the last for games for the Coyotes, but failed to record a point in any while posting a minus-3 rating. He was likely sent down for some extra playing time during the All-Star break, but it's possible he remains there even after the recess.

The Coyotes recalled Samuelsson from AHL Portland on Tuesday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. Samuelsson will take the roster spot of Chris Summers, who was placed on waivers Tuesday. He could play Tuesday night with Brandon Gormley (lower body) out, but should be considered the seventh on the depth chart among Arizona defensemen.
