Byron (hip) announced his retirement Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Byron, who hasn't played since April 19, 2022, attempted to come back from his hip injury, but after going through rehab and talking with different doctors, he's reached the conclusion that he can no longer continue to play. The 34-year-old recorded 98 goals, 208 points and 917 hits in 521 career NHL games with Montreal, Calgary and Buffalo. He also provided 11 points in 38 playoff contests, including three goals and three assists in 22 outings during Montreal's 2021 run to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Byron (hip) has yet to resume skating.
EDGE Analysis
Although Byron has reportedly made some progress in his recovery over the past few weeks, the fact that he has yet to skate in any capacity this season seems to suggest he may be in danger of missing the entirety of the campaign. Either way, the 33-year-old vet only picked up seven points through 27 games last season, so there's no reason for fantasy managers to track his status.

Byron (hip) has yet to begin skating and is expected to be placed on long-term injured reserve to start the season, Marc Antoine Godin of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Byron continues to deal with the lingering hip problem for which he underwent surgery in July of 2021. At this point, there is some concern that the problem will end the 33-year-old center's career entirely. If that's the case, Byron would eventually retire having played in 521 NHL games over 12 seasons with the Sabres, Flames and Canadiens in which he tallied 98 goals and 110 assists.

Byron continues to battle a lingering hip injury and could be placed on long-term injured reserve to start the season, Marc Antoine Godin of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Byron hasn't gotten into any preseason action yet, with the Canadiens scheduled for just two more exhibition matches. The 33-year-old was limited to 27 games last season, and it seems like he's trending toward missing more time to begin 2022-23.

Byron (lower body) is expected to be ready to return at some point within the first two weeks of the regular season, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Byron will likely end up missing a handful of regular-season games, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in action before the end of October. The 33-year-old forward tallied seven points while averaging 12:36 of ice time through 27 contests last campaign.

Byron (lower body) may not be cleared in time for the start of training camp, Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca reports Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Byron was limited to a mere 27 games this season due to injury which saw him post his lowest point total since 2012-13 when he was with the Flames. If he can get healthy this year, the 33-year-old Ontario native could get back to challenging for the 20-goal mark in 2022-23.

Byron (lower body) won't play Thursday against Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Byron will miss at least one game with the lower-body injury he suffered during Tuesday's loss to Minnesota. He's picked up only seven points through 27 games this campaign, so most fantasy managers shouldn't need to keep tabs on his status.

Byron (lower body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
Byron was injured in the first period, and he did not join the Canadiens' bench for the second. The 32-year-old has battled various injuries throughout the season. His status should be updated prior to Thursday's game versus the Flyers.

Byron (undisclosed) will be in the lineup versus Winnipeg on Monday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Byron will suit up for the first time since April 5 against the Senators, just two games on the shelf due to his undisclosed injury. Prior to his absence, the veteran center was stuck in a five-game pointless streak during which he registered nine hits, seven shots and three blocks. With just seven points in 23 games this year, Byron will almost certainly miss the 20-point threshold for the third straight year.
