Patrick Sharp left tonight's Red Wings-Blackhawks game with an upper-body injury and Chicago reports that he won't return. Sharp had just scored his 20th goal and 40th point of the season when he suffered that injury. He's been a fantastic sniper for quite some time, but the 2011-12 campaign has continued his rise to a borderline elite level, so he'd be sorely missed by his team and fantasy owners if this ends up being a significant problem.

Patrick Sharp turned 30 on Tuesday and thinks his teammates view him as an old man. "I like to think I have a lot of years left," Sharp said. "I'd like to play as long as I can. It's just funny that you see (Marcus) Kruger and (Jonathan) Toews and (Patrick) Kane (and) these young guys around here. You talk about 30, and they think you're going to be like O'Donnell here pretty soon." He was referring to teammate Sean O'Donnell, who is Chicago's oldest player at 40.

Patrick Sharp netted the game-winning goal on Sunday, just a few hours after bringing his newborn baby girl home. Sharp and his wife celebrated the birth of their first child on Friday. "It was tough to focus on hockey when so much is going on back home," Sharp admitted. "We have a great locker room so it's easy to kind of turn things off when you come to the rink. I was a space cadet for the whole game (Sunday) and then I was able to bounce one in there for the winner." Sharp has been amazing lately, scoring nine goals and 12 points in his last eight games. He's in a three-way tie for fifth in the NHL with 16 goals.

Patrick Sharp, who celebrated the birth of his daughter on Friday, practiced with his Blackhawks' teammates on Saturday and will be in the lineup Sunday against the Sharks. Congratulations to Sharp and his wife Abby on the birth of their first child Madelyn Grace. The Sharks were hoping that labor would have lasted longer as Sharp is on a hot streak at the moment with five goals and eight points in the Hawks' last five games. Needless to say, make sure the new father is active against San Jose.

Patrick Sharp potted two goals and also registered an assist in the Blackhawks' 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders Thursday night. Sharp now has 15 goals and 29 points in 29 games so far this season and is a genuine star in Chicago. He's a good bet to surpass the 30-goal and 70-point marks for the second straight season. Marian Hossa had the other Blackhawks goal in the win tonight, his 400th NHL goal.

Patrick Sharp helped the Chicago Blackhawks save some face by scoring their only goal on Tuesday night. Sharp has 11 goals and 23 points in 25 games so far. His peripheral numbers have been great, too, as he already fired 92 shots on goal, has a +10 rating and 20 PIM. Some of those numbers (particularly PIM) could drop, but Sharp is a genuine star in Chicago.
