Pascal Leclaire announced his retirement last night on the RDS program L'antichambre.
He had hoped to make a comeback this year following three hip operations over the summer, but he was unable to fully recover. Leclaire played only parts of seven seasons in the NHL in a career that was largely beset by injuries. In 173 career appearances with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators, he posted a 61-76-15 record with a 2.89 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage and 10 shutouts.

Pascal Leclaire is hoping to get another offer from an NHL team with training camps on the horizon, but he needs to fully recover from hip surgery first.
He reportedly received an offer in July from another club, but the deal fell through when he couldn't pass the medical tests. "There has been some progress, but it's not good enough to play at the NHL level," he said. "The league is too good to try and go at 80 per cent ... I don't even know if I'm 80 per cent." Leclaire is currently skating in shinny games to keep up his conditioning, but getting back into the league could end up being a legitimate concern for him once he is feeling better.
