Lauridsen signed a one-year contract Wednesday with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League.
The 26-year-old Lauridsen had appeared in 16 games with the Flyers across the last three seasons, including one in 2014-15, but it became clear that the unrestricted free agent wasn't valued highly with an influx of well-regarded defensive prospects coming up the pipeline. As a result, the 6-foot-6 rearguard elected to head over to Europe, where he'll attempt to bring up his stock in an attempt to return to North America next summer.

Lauridsen was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
With blueliners Mark Streit and Carlo Colaiacovo both experiencing flu-like symptoms Saturday morning, Lauridsen and Mark Alt were brought aboard from the minors, and both are expected to enter the lineup. The 26-year-old Lauridsen, who has six points and 128 PIM in 64 games with Lehigh Valley this season, hasn't appeared at the NHL level since the 2012-13 lockout year.

Lauridsen was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The Flyers brought Lauridsen aboard ahead of Tuesday's game against the Penguins, after blueliners Nick Schultz and Carlo Colaiacovo were nursing injuries. Colaiacovo would end up suiting up for Tuesday's game, relegating Lauridsen to the press box as a healthy scratch. With the Flyers now off the schedule until after the All-Star break, Lauridsen will head back to the AHL for more ice time.

Oliver Lauridsen has been cut from the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp roster.
Lauridsen had three points and 34 penalty minutes in 15 games with Philadelphia last season. The Flyers have a defensively logjam going into the season, so Lauridsen was a long shot to make the team. He might be one of the first players called up as an injury replacement though.

Oliver Lauridsen has impressed the Flyers in his short time with the team.
The rookie blueliner has only played in 14 games, but he has goals in two straight -- including the winner on Thursday -- and was a physical force in the last game with four hits and four blocked shots. "When you come up and make an impact with the big club, you start to talk about that person and start to look forward to the future with that person," Laviolette said. "Somebody who brings his size and his presence onto the ice, I think is a positive. He's a towering man, he plays with a physical edge, and he's kept the game simple up here."

Philadelphia defenseman Oliver Lauridsen made his NHL debut on Saturday.
Lauridsen isn't much of an offensive threat but he is a big guy. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder has a goal, five assists and 77 penalty minutes in 59 games for the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL this season. The stay-at-home defenseman, was recalled from the Phantoms because of Braydon Coburn's separated shoulder. "Obviously I was a little nervous at the start," he said. "It felt really good to get the first period out of the way, and then my instincts kind of took over after that."
