Kronwall (groin) will miss Thursday's season opener in Detroit versus the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
The oft-injured blueliner reportedly will be replaced by youngster Xavier Ouellet. Kronwall himself expected to be ready for Opening Night against the Red Wings, but evidently the training staff is erring on the side of caution here. Consider him day-to-day ahead of Saturday's road match in Ottawa.

Kronwall (groin) expects to be in the lineup for Thursday's regular-season opener against Minnesota, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fantasy owners should take this news with a grain of salt, as Kronwall has yet to be cleared by the Red Wings' training staff, but it's certainly a step in the right direction after he was deemed doubtful for Opening Night earlier this week. The veteran blueliner's status for Detroit's regular-season opener should be confirmed prior to puck drop Thursday evening.

Kronwall (groin) is doubtful for Opening Night on Thursday against the Wild, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Swede, who used to dole out punishing hits like it's nobody's business, reportedly missed practice Tuesday. He's sure to be reevaluated before Opening Night for an official call on his status as the Red Wings embark on their first-ever regular-season contest at the brand new home rink Little Ceasers Arena.

Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said Kronwall (groin) is "questionable/doubtful" for the season opener, which will take place against the Wild at home Thursday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's rare to see two levels of injury severity rolled into one, but we're assuming this means that Kronwall is considered somewhere between questionable and doubtful to start the new campaign. Either way, fantasy owners are advised to take a wait-and-see approach with the oft-injured Kronwall, as his chronic battle with the injury bug has sapped his production significantly over the years. Last season, he had just 13 points and a minus-7 rating over 57 games.

Kronwall is day-to-day with what Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill is calling a slight groin injury, MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whether or not you're a fan of the Wings, it's hard not to feel for Kronwall, as he just can't seem to get healthy for a prolonged period of time. He'd been severely limited by knee problems the past two years, only for back spasms to surface in mid-September. He played well in Thursday's home loss to the Blackhawks, having picked up a primary assist over 19:30 of ice time, but now he's already paid another visit to the team's trainers. It'll be hard to trust Kronwall in fantasy settings even if this latest malady really does turn out to be a minor issue.

Kronwall (back) returned for Thursday night's preseason home loss to the Blackhawks, picking up a primary assist and two PIM over 19:31 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Fans of the Winged Wheel can rejoice knowing that the Swedish blueliner with 13 years of NHL experience not only returned to action, but was productive and handled a fair amount of playing time. Kronwall pitched in just 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) over an injury riddled 2016-17 campaign, so he's best selected near the final rounds of fantasy drafts -- or, in deep leagues, left for the waiver wire.

Kronwall (back) hopes to play in Thursday's preseason home contest versus the Red Wings, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Expect the Red Wings to be careful with Kronwall, as he's been perpetually banged up over the last two seasons; we're talking 111 games played in all over that span. When he ultimately decides to hang up his skates for good, Detroit fans will probably best remember him for the bone-jarring hits that he delivered in his prime years, but the reality is that the Swedish blueliner hasn't eclipsed the 100-plus hits mark since 2011-12.

Kronwall (back) is out for Monday's preseason contest against Pittsburgh, but the team hopes to get him in to two preseason games before Opening Night, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The career-Red Wing hasn't been able to practice with his teammates since training camp began Sept. 15, instead skating on his own for that time. If Kronwall is healthy enough to go through with the team's preseason plans for him, the next time he would play is likely to be Thursday against Chicago.

Kronwall (back) has skated solo the last couple days and the Red Wings are still holding out hope that he'll be ready for Opening Night, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Swede has been perpetually banged up over the past two seasons, drawing into 121 contests over that span. It's not mission critical that the defenseman with 13 years of NHL experience draws into a preseason contest since all he needs to prove is his health, but the team reportedly could see him on the ice for practice Thursday, and that would be a nice step in his recovery from back spasms. If Kronwall's condition doesn't improve, he'll be a fine candidate for long-term injured reserve to start the season; such a move would free up cap space for the club against the upper limit.

Kronwall (back) should suit up in at least one preseason contest according to coach Jeff Blashill, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kronwall has not been taking part in training camp session due to back spasm which have been described by Blashill as nothing serious. However, fantasy owners will no doubt be concerned given the 36-year-old played in less than 65 games in each of his last two seasons as a result of various injuries. The news effectively rules the veteran out against Boston on Tuesday.
