After its 2-1 loss to the Coyotes in Phoenix Monday night, the Minnesota Wild has yet to win a game on the road this season. But goalie Niklas Backstrom was superb in this game, stopping 32 of 34 shots and holding the Coyotes goalless in the third period. Backstrom is now 3-3-1 on the season.

Niklas Backstrom will play between the pipes on Sunday. Backstrom will be facing St. Louis for the first time this season. He has a 2.65 GAA and .904 save percentage in 12 career starts against the Blues.

Niklas Backstrom allowed three goals on 26 shots in a 3-1 loss to Nashville Tuesday night. After two consecutive victories to start the season, this was the first defeat of the year for Minnesota, but the team continues to look like one of the stronger clubs in the Western Conference. This bodes well for Backstrom, who was likely not one of the first netminders selected in your draft.
