Marner has found the scoresheet in seven straight games, racking up two goals and 11 points over that stretch, and the 25-year-old is well on his way to another elite scoring season -- and perhaps, if he can avoid injuries, his first career campaign with 100-plus points.

Marner is on a five-game, eight-point scoring streak (one goal, seven assists). Coach Sheldon Keefe seems to have scaled back his ice time a little bit over the same span and that might have been the ticket to the uptick in output. Marner had seen more than 26 minutes of ice time in three of the four games before the streak. But during it, his ice time mostly hovered between 20:30 and 22:00. Keep an eye on his usage. An exhausted Marner isn't a helpful Marner.

The playmaking winger returned to a high-usage role after being benched for part of Toronto's previous game, as Marner led all Maple Leafs forwards with 21:24 TOI. He's averaging a point per game through 11, and nine of those have been assists.

The Leafs were up 3-1 with 13 minutes left and the Leafs seemed to be in control, bu two Marner giveaways led directly to two Ducks goals. And they then lost in overtime. Coach Sheldon Keefe kept him on the bench the next time the Auston Matthews' line hopped the boards. We're certain the point was made, even if it was for just one shift.

Marner has eight points (two goals, six assists) in nine games, but like most of the Leafs has struggled to really click in any zone. The team is too good for that to go on much longer and Marner's production should soon take a leap.

He looked good with Alex Kerfoot joining Marner and Auston Matthews on the top line, so it's likely that trio sticks together a while.

Other than a positive rating on an empty-net goal, Marner did not generate a shot or produce a hit during 19:17 of ice time. The 25-year-old right winger has compiled four points (one goal, three assists) in five outings.
