The 35-year-old makes for a reliable fantasy play on a talented Flames squad that should contend for a playoff position.

This stinker will drop the 35-year-old's season save percentage from .950 to .922 and raise his GAA from 2.00 to 2.71. Smith should be a more reliable fantasy goaltender this season if only because he'll be in line to win more games, but the veteran will be prone to poor nights like this from time to time.

Smith will be making his fifth consecutive start to open the season versus Ottawa -- having posted a 3-1-0 record in his previous appearances. The Ontario native has faced more rubber than any other netminder in the league (160 shots) and could be in line for another heavy workload considering the Senators are averaging 37.3 shots per game.

Smith made 42 saves on 45 shots in a 4-3 overtime win against the Kings on Wednesday.
