McCarron was summoned to Montreal on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
McCarron last appeared in a Canadiens jersey back on Jan. 14, which ended a streak of 15 straight games in the lineup. Given the depth down the middle of Montreal's roster, the 21-year-old may struggle to make an appearance, instead providing some organizational depth.

McCarron was sent back to St. John's of the American Hockey Leauge on Tuesday, Stu Cowan of Hockey Inside Out reports.
EDGE Analysis
As injured forwards began to return to the Canadiens' lineup, we knew guys like McCarron or Chris Terry would wind up back in the AHL. McCarron has improved since being drafted in the first round of the 2013 draft, but the fact he's not among the top 12 forwards in Montreal yet tells us that the 21-year-old still has some development left. Montreal general Marc Bergevin said the 6-foot-6, 230-pound McCarron needs to be quicker, particularly those initial strides, and more refined. He'll get that opportunity with the IceCaps, for whom he'll get more ice time than would be available to him in the NHL.

McCarron scored the insurance goal in Montreal's 5-3 win over Toronto on Saturday. He added nine minutes in penalties, two shots and a hit in 12:36 of ice time, including a season-high 3:57 on the power play.
EDGE Analysis
The hulking McCarron is known more for the physical nature he brings to a contest, so it's wise not to overreact to the fourth-liner's first goal of the season. What's noteworthy is his stint as the center on the first power-play unit. With several injuries at forward, from time to time, McCarron may be asked to handle a greater load, such as skating on the power play, but scoring is not his forte.

McCarron had an assist, two shots on net, five hits and a blocked shot in 12;25 of ice time in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
McCarron hadn't played in a game since being called up last week, but Andrew Shaw's concussion gave him an opportunity Friday. He opened the game on the fourth line, but got some time in a top-six role and as well as the power play. The 2013 first-round pick needs some finish to his game before he claims an everyday role with the Habs, but he doesn't cheat on the physical part of the game. With Shaw out indefinitely and Sven Andrighetto (upper body) unable to travel with the team, McCarron should be in the lineup Saturday against the Capitals.

McCarron was recalled from AHL St. John's on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McCarron played 20 games for the Canadiens last season, posting a goal, an assist, and 37 penalty minutes. Montreal is likely looking for a more physical presence and the 21-year-old can provide it in spades if he's given the chance, but don't count on him to snag a top-six role anytime soon.

Mccarran will start the season with AHL St. John's, Pat Hickey of The Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 21-year-old center certainly has a shot at playing with Montreal at some point this year, but he'll start in the AHL. While bouncing between leagues last season, McCarron scored 38 points in 58 games with AHL St. John's and only two points in 20 games in the NHL.

McCarron reported to Montreal's development camp with reduced body fat, but still has to work on several areas of his game, according to Montreal director of player development Martin LaPointe, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCarron made his NHL debut last season, skating in 20 games for the Canadiens. The 6-foot-6 center used his frame well, doling out 49 hits and spending 37 minutes in the penalty box while averaging 11:41 of ice time. But his minus-10 hints at what LaPointe is referring to when he talks about the improvements McCarron still needs to make.

McCarron was reassigned to AHL St. John's on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 6-foot-6, 231-pound winger served his purpose with the club, collecting 49 hits and 37 penalty minutes over just 20 games with the Canadiens. The team recalled another body (John Scott) that will serve in a similar role while McCarron will return to the AHL affiliate and await another opportunity to rejoin the parent club.

McCarron netted the first goal of his NHL career in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Calgary.
EDGE Analysis
Niklas Backstrom was tough for the Flames in this one, but McCarron was able to find the back of the net in the third period. It was his first point since recording an assist on Feb. 27. He also took two shots on goal and dished out two hits. The rookie has seen his ice time fluctuate over his 14 NHL games, but his 13:39 in this one was the second-highest total since he's been up with the big club. McCarron could have some fantasy value if he gets consistent ice time over the last few games of the season.

McCarron centered the third line and had six sbots on goal in 12:54 of ice time in Saturday night's 4-2 loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie had been demoted to the fourth line in Montreal's previous game, but was back up for Saturday's game and had a season-high 2:25 on the power play. Head coach Michel Therrien acknowledged following the game that he's in evaluation mode with a lot of players, and that includes McCarron, the team's 2013 first-round draft pick. Expect McCarron to be moved around with different linemates and to continue to be part of the man-advantage units.
