Noreau was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of Le Journal de Montreal reports. He has only played six NHL games in his career and has spent the last three years in the Swiss-A league. If another NHL team does not claim him, he will report to AHL Lake Erie. Noreau last appeared in the NHL during the 2010-11 season with Minnesota where he only lasted five games with the team. There is a very low chance that he will see NHL action this season and he has very low fantasy value, if any.

The Colorado Avalanche have signed Maxim Noreau to a two-year, $1.25 million contract. Noreau had eight goals and 24 points in 35 Swiss league games last season. The 27-year-old's previous attempt to make it in the NHL ended three years ago. He only ended up participating in six NHL games, but he was an effective offensive defenseman at the AHL level.

Maxim Noreau has been shipped to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for David McIntyre. He was slated to be a restricted free agent this summer and the Wild did not expect him to crack their lineup as they have a surplus of blueliners already under contract. Noreau registered 10 goals and 44 assists in 76 games last season with Minnesota's AHL affiliate in Houston.
