The Ducks have traded Friberg to the Canadiens in exchange for goalie Dustin Tokarski.
EDGE Analysis
Friberg was selected by Ducks in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He only ended up appearing in six games with the Ducks and hasn't played at hockey's highest level of competition since Nov. 13. Still, he's known as a fast and gritty winger with a strong work ethic. Friberg had a chance to showcase his offensive talent with AHL San Diego, notching five goals and 12 assists in 25 games this season.

Friberg was reassigned to Anaheim's AHL affiliate in San Diego on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The move was a long time coming for the 22-year-old, as he had only dressed for five of Anaheim's 17 games so far, failing to register a point in any of those games. The youngster still has a lot of room to improve and is likely to earn another call up to the majors sometime this season.

Friberg was recalled from AHL San Diego on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Friberg made his NHL debut with the Ducks last season, playing in a single game on Dec. 28, 2014. He played the rest of the season with AHL Norfolk, totaling 40 points in 58 games played. The 22-year-old Swede is likely getting called up in response to the injuries to wing players Jiri Sekac and Kenton Helgesen. Friberg should have a nice opportunity to earn some time on the bottom lines for the Ducks as a result.

Firberg signed a two-year contract extension with the Ducks on Thursday. Friberg has only participated in one NHL game, so he'll likely spend the majority of next season with AHL Norfolk before becoming a regular member of the Ducks' lineup. He's certainly got some offensive upside, as he was able to notch 40 points in 58 games with AHL Norfolk last season. He's only 22-years-old, and has a good chance of developing into a solid offensive contributor for the Ducks over the next few seasons.

Friberg was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Wednesday. Friberg's demotion would seem to signal that either Corey Perry (knee) or Tim Jackman (head) will be ready to return to the lineup Wednesday versus the Sharks. The 22-year-old Friberg made his NHL debut Sunday against Vancouver, logging 8:47 of ice time.

As the Anaheim Ducks continue to trim their roster, Friberg was among five guys the team sent to AHL Norfolk, in preparation for the upcoming season. Friberg will continue to be "groomed in the AHL this coming season. The 22-year-old winger has proven himself in the Swedish Elite League and will now get his shot to making it to the NHL. Hockey'sFuture.com wrote, "Friberg has established himself as an early candidate for the biggest steal in the 2011 draft as the 143rd overall pick has shone on the international stage and in the Swedish Elite League." This will be a player you will want to remember as he has the talent and skills to play at the next level, and an injury or two may give him his shot.
