Roy isn't likely to produce much offense from the third pairing, limiting his fantasy value to only the deepest of formats given his solid non-scoring stats.

It was arguably the best game of the year for the 24-year-old defenseman, as he finally cracked the goose egg on his season scoring line. Roy has added 24 shots on goal, 25 blocked shots and 21 hits in 14 games this year. Despite the good showing Saturday, he's still a third-pairing defenseman on an offensively challenged team -- that's not going to attract fantasy owners' interest.

Roy has yet to find the stat sheet in eight games this season for Los Angeles.

EDGE Analysis

Roy not finding the net isn't much of a surprise, but given that he posted 21 assists last year at AHL Ontario, it is a little stunning that he's yet to even record a helper in 2019. With around 15 minutes of ice time a night, Roy will get chances, but odds are that he's going to be much more of a help to the Kings than he will to your fantasy team this year.

Roy inked a two-year, $1.4 million contract with the Kings on Monday.

EDGE Analysis

A seventh-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Roy averaged 17:08 of ice time in his 25 games at the NHL level last season. With the Kings' current roster of skaters, the 24-year-old should continue skating in a bottom-four role during this two-year deal.

In order to prevent himself from spending time in the minors, the 23-year-old might be willing to take less money on a one-way contract.
