Matt Cullen is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Cullen, 36, isn't sure if he'll be back next season. "You just don't know in this game," Cullen said. "For sure, I know that could have been my last game as a wild player. There's lot of things that can happen. Never take it for granted. It's been a lot of fun, but we'll see what happens." He had seven goals and 27 points in 48 games, so he should still be able to find another team that'll want him if the Wild don't re-sign him.

Needing a win to clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2008, the Wild laid an egg Friday night and the Edmonton Oilers spoiled the party with a 6-1 victory. This was a choke of epic proportions for the Wild, who can still claim the eighth-and-final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a win in Colorado over the Avalanche Saturday. "I don't know what to say," said Wild center Matt Cullen. "It was one of the weirdest games I've ever played in. It was strange. But bottom line is that we got spanked in a game that we absolutely needed to win. It's one of those things that leaves you shaking your head."

It's expected the Minnesota Wild will make a strong attempt to re-sign Matt Cullen in the offseason. The free agent to-be doesn't have terrific offensive numbers, but he is an invaluable member of the team at both ends of the ice as well as in the locker room. If he remains in Minnesota, look for Cullen to offer similar production going forward, which makes him useful only in very deep leagues.

Matt Cullen (lower body) practiced again on Sunday during an optional skate and could be back in the Minnesota lineup Monday. Cullen has been out the last six games with the lower body injury. "We're getting to the point in the season where you have to be in there," Cullen said. "So it was a good day to push it a little bit. We'll see how it feels in the morning, how everything is going. But yeah, it was definitely a good day, and it's definitely getting better." He has seven goals and 25 points in 35 games and has been a vital member of the second line and should get Devin Setoguchi going as Setoguchi has only one assist since the absence of Cullen after being one of the hottest players in the NHL in the previous month. Cullen will be a game-time decision.

Matt Cullen (lower body) was a surprise participant in Saturday's optional practice. Coach Mike Yeo refused to talk about his projected lineup, so it's unclear if Cullen will be back or not. GM Chuck Fletcher didn't think Cullen would be reinserted into the fold though because there's a risk of re-injury and Saturday's session was his first since April 1. It sounds like he's unlikely to play.

Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo says Matt Cullen (lower body) could miss another week. Cullen hasn't played since April 1, which has sidetracked what was a rebound season for the veteran center. Cullen has seven goals and 25 points in 35 games this season and has been a pleasant surprise for the Wild. We'll keep an eye out for any updates on his health but it sounds like he might be out until the middle of next week.

Matt Cullen has a lower-body injury and won't travel with the Wild to California. It's unclear when Cullen was hurt but he'll miss at least the next two games. Beat writer Michael Russo reports it's possible Cullen could return Sunday against the Columbus but Russo thinks that's a bit optimistic.

The Minnesota Wild have been getting a lot of production out of second liner Matt Cullen. Cullen has 19 points in his last 19 games including seven goals as the Wild have been one of the hotter teams in the NHL of late. Cullen got off to a bit of a slow start with only one goal and five assists in his first 15 games but he has been on fire since Feb. 21. He is a UFA at the end of the season if he does not re-sign and at the age of 36, he could now get one more nice contract if this scoring pace continues.
