Clark announced on his Instagram page that he would be retiring from professional hockey.
EDGE Analysis
Clark was selected by the Ducks with the 37th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, but only played in nine career NHL games. After a seven-year stint in the AHL, the blueliner moved overseas to Austria for the last two seasons. The 28-year-old notched one assist in those nine appearances, but wasn't able to put one in the back of the net.

Clark inked a one-year contract with HC Bolzano of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Clark joins the Foxes after a 2016-17 campaign in which he spent the year in the minors -- appearing in 38 contests and tallying eight points. The blueliner played nine career games for Anaheim -- with one assist and six PIM to show for it. Selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL Draft, the 26-year-old is probably a long shot to work his way back into the NHL.

Clark was placed on waivers Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clark has yet to play in either the NHL or the minors this season and will likely be reassigned to AHL San Antonio if he goes unclaimed off waivers, as expected.

Clark was acquired from the Ducks on Monday in exchange for forward Michael Sgarbossa. Clark appeared in seven games with the Ducks earlier this season, recording one point. The 24-year-old, who was a second-round selection in 2009, is expected to report to AHL Lake Erie, where he'll give the Avalanche some organizational depth on the blue line.

Clark was reassigned to AHL Norfolk on Saturday. The Ducks simply needed a bit of forward depth with Corey Perry nursing a knee injury, so Clark was reassigned in order to bring up center Rickard Rakell. Clark will likely be back with the team this season if the need for defensive depth arises.

Clark has been recalled to the majors, the team's official twitter account reports. Anaheim has been struck by a rash of injuries to their defensemen, and have called up Clark to provide depth. He will need to see some more injuries to his teammates to have much fantasy value, and could be sent back down soon since many of the injuries already suffered do not appear to be serious.

Clark was sent to AHL Norfolk as the Ducks continue to cut down their roster. Clark played 23 games in Norfolk a year ago and will start the season in the minors this season. It's unlikely he will be recalled any time soon, considering the defensive depth the Ducks currently have.

Matt Clark has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with Anaheim. Clark can earn $550,000 if he spends the season with the Ducks, but we doubt that will happen. He had two assists in 23 AHL contests in 2013-14.
