McTavish scored a goal and added a power-play assist in his NHL debut, a 4-1 win over the Jets on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 18-year-old was put in the lineup after Max Jones (illness) was a late scratch. McTavish delivered in his NHL debut, converting on an Isac Lundestrom assist at 13:20 of the first period for what would be the game-winning goal. In the second, McTavish added a helper on Adam Henrique power-play tally. It's unclear how long the 2021 third-overall pick will stick with the Ducks to begin 2021-22, but McTavish is probably due a longer look after a positive first impression.

McTavish won a job on the Ducks' Opening Night roster in training camp, Elliott Teaford of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
McTavish was selected third overall by the Ducks in the 2021 draft. A natural center, McTavish practiced at left wing alongside Isac Lundestrom and Jakob Silfverberg ahead of Wednesday's season opener against the Jets. It's unclear if the 18-year-old McTavish will debut in that spot, but appears he could push for a middle-six role right from the start of the season.

McTavish (ankle) will center the Ducks' third line versus the Coyotes in Saturday's preseason contest.
EDGE Analysis
McTavish was battling a sprained ankle at the start of training camp, but he's now evidently healthy enough to play. The third overall pick from the 2021 NHL Entry Draft tallied nine goals and 11 points in 13 games with EHC Olten of the Swiss league last season.

McTavish (ankle) is not expected to practice for a while, Elliott Teaford of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
McTavish suffered the ankle injury during a rookie tournament game, and it appears that it will cost him some valuable on-ice time during training camp. The 18-year-old was selected third overall in the 2021 draft after posting 11 points in 13 games with Swiss club Olten EHC. It's unclear if McTavish will play in Europe or with OHL Peterborough, his junior club from 2019-20, but he won't be getting in any game action until his ankle injury heals.

McTavish signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Anaheim on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
McTavish -- who was drafted third overall in the 2021 NHL Draft -- racked up nine goals and two assists in just 13 games for Swiss club Olten EHC. The 18-year-old center is unlikely to break into the NHL this year and figures to either return to Switzerland or could be back in the OHL with Peterborough where he played back in 2019-20.
