St. Louis announced his retirement as an NHL player on Thursday. The 40-year-old winger, who recorded 21 goals and 52 points in 74 games with the Rangers last season, finishes up his distinguished 16-year NHL career with 391 goals and 1,033 points in 1,134 games. In addition to being a member of the Lightning when the team won the 2003-04 Stanley Cup, St. Louis -- who entered the league as an undrafted free agent -- also earned his share of individual honors. Most notably, he was awarded the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP in 2003-04, as well as being a two-time Art Ross Trophy winner and three-time recipient of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

St. Louis will not return to the Rangers next season, Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports. It isn't a huge surprise, as St. Louis recently turned 40 years old, and struggled mightily over the second half of the regular season as well as the playoffs. He only managed to notch seven goals over the final 35 games of the regular season, and only tallied one goal in the Rangers' 19 playoff games. St. Louis has reportedly garnered at least a little bit of interest from the Devils and Penguins, but it remains to be seen how much the veteran winger will have left in the tank if he is able to land a job in the offseason.

St. Louis finally scored his first goal of the playoffs Friday in Game 4 against the Lightning, tallying on a third-period power play. The game was still very much in the balance with the Rangers leading 3-1 at the time, but St. Louis gave New York a little extra cushion and really deflated the Lightning, who appeared to be in disarray for the rest of the game after his goal. These playoffs have certainly been a struggle for St. Louis, who's looking like he's coming to the end of his illustrious career, but he's at least starting to show a little more over the last few games. The Rangers will need him to provide more offense as they try to win two of the next three to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

St. Louis assisted on both of the Rangers' goals in Monday's 6-2, Game 2 loss to the Lightning. It wasn't a good night for the Blueshirts, but St. Louis was at least able to chip in as he picked up a pair of points on the power play. He still hasn't found the back of the net yet himself in these playoffs, but he's still finding ways to contribute as he's picked up six assists.

St. Louis assisted on Rick Nash's third-period goal in Sunday's Game 6 win over the Capitals. St. Louis has assumed a top-six role for the Rangers during the second round with Mats Zuccarello out with a suspected concussion, but it hasn't done much to ignite his production. He's recorded zero goals, three assists, and 13 shots on goal over the last six games, a saw just 13:53 of ice time Sunday, which was his lowest mark of the series. The soon-to-be 40-year-old will become a free agent in the offseason, and even if he expresses interest in re-signing on a one-year deal, it's not clear if the Rangers would be as intrigued about bringing him back.

St. Louis fired off four shots in Thursday's Game 1 loss to Washington. Playing alongside fellow first-liners, Rick Nash and Derick Brassard, the veteran right-winger has been awfully quiet this postseason, registering just one assist through six games. With the team's usual first line right-winger Mats Zuccarello (head) reportedly ruled out for the remainder of the series, the Rangers coaching staff and fantasy owners alike have to be hoping to see some more of that productive play (15 points in 25 games) St. Louis provided in the team's run to the Stanley Cup finals last spring.

St. Louis assisted on Kevin Hayes' game-winning goal in Wednesday's Game 4 victory over the Penguins. St. Louis hasn't seen more than 18 minutes in any of the four playoff games, as he's been deployed on the third line while the emerging J.T. Miller has climbed to the Rangers' second trio. The diminished role has unsurprisingly compromised the 39-year-old's production, as he's mustered only four shots on goal during the series, with Wednesday's assist representing his first point. It's probably for the best to steer clear of using him in daily formats until his offense starts to heat up again.

St. Louis dished out two assists in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Capitals. In six games since returning from a knee injury, the 39-year-old has bounced back nicely, picking up five points while firing 12 shots on goal and skating to a plus-4 rating. St. Louis is certain to be motivated for what could be one of his final chances at a second Stanley Cup -- especially after coming so close last year -- so look for steady production from him as long as the Blueshirts keep playing into the spring.

St. Louis is interested in re-signing with the Rangers, reports Larry Brooks of the New York Post. Currently playing out the final year of a four-year extension given by Tampa Bay in 2010, St. Louis gelled quickly in the Rangers' playoff run last year and it sounds as if he would like to end his career in Manhattan. While the 39-year-old's declining skill level (50 points in 73 games) will make for a nice value signing to general manager Glen Sather, will be very interesting to see how his fantasy value is impacted.

St Louis logged a first period goal in Monday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets. It's the first goal and second point since the veteran winger returned to the line three games ago. While St. Louis' 49 points in 71 games is his worst output in 13 seasons, if he does return to the NHL next season, he's should remain fantasy worthy in deeper formats to say the least.
