Marc Staal (concussion) has been participating in off-ice conditioning exercises for three straight days. "As far as I know he's been doing real well," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. Staal has missed three straight games and, as expected, there is no timetable for his return.

It has been confirmed that Marc Staal is suffering from a concussion. If there's any silver lining it's that his doctors don't think it's as serious as the one that cost him nearly half of the 2011-12 campaign. That being said, concussions don't come with timetables, so we really have no way of knowing if he'll be sidelined for more or fewer games this time around.

The New York Rangers remain uncertain if Marc Staal's upper-body injury is really a concussion. "Marc, at this time, is being treated for neck issues which are causing him to have some symptoms," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "We're not sure yet whether the symptoms are caused by the neck issues from the hit. Obviously, with his history, we're taking every precaution." Vigneault is referring to the concussion that forced Staal to miss a good chunk of the 2011-12 campaign. The defenseman has three points in 30 games this season.

New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal is being treated for a neck injury and won't play against the Washington Capitals on Sunday. Head coach Alain Vigneault said he isn't sure if Staal is dealing with a concussion specifically. Staal has three points, eight PIM, 30 SOG and a -7 rating in 30 games played this season. Michael Del Zotto takes his place in the lineup.

Marc Staal left Saturday's game in the third period and may have suffered another concussion. Staal took a hit to the chin from Devils forward Reid Boucher, went down to the ice and then immediately went to the locker room, slamming his helmet on the ground in frustration. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Staal "didn't feel quite right" and is being checked out, but that there won't be any updates until at least Sunday. Staal has missed major time over the last two campaigns with a concussion and eye injury.

Marc Staal was in the Rangers lineup on Saturday after missing practice Friday. Staal had a sore foot on Thursday after blocking a shot but it was not enough to keep him out of action Saturday. He played 19:48 minutes and was plus-one but did not see any power play time as Michael Del Zotto and Daniel Girardi saw first power play time with Ryan McDonagh seeing time on the second unit. He has only two goals and three points with a minus-five rating this season so keep him on your bench if you drafted him.

Dfenseman Marc Staal did not practice Friday to rest a sore foot after blocking a second-period shot against the Stars Thursday night. Staal said X-rays were negative and he expects to play tonight.

Marc Staal has 100 career points after scoring a goal on Tuesday. It took Staal 406 games to reach that milestone. He's a solid defenseman, but from a fantasy perspective his value is limited.

Marc Staal was struck near his ear by the puck during Thursday's game, but he's fortunately okay. Staal's future as a hockey player was put into question when he was hit in the eye by the puck during the 2013 campaign. "I thought it was a blind-side [hit]," Staal said of his most recent incident. "I thought he came across from the side and launched up into his head." Staal also has dealt with concussion problems in the past, so this could have been bad news for that reason as well. Right now though, it doesn't look like he'll miss a game over this.

Coach Alain Vigneault likes Marc Staal on the power play. "I like his shot and I like the fact that he's been able to sneak into the holes in the right areas," said Vigneault. He scored against Phoenix when he jumped in from the point. Going into the year, Staal had six total power-play goals in his career and that number should go up now that he's being given the opportunity to be more active in the offensive zone.
