Methot (back) will report to AHL Binghamton on Friday to begin a conditioning assignment, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports. Methot will play for Binghamton in Saturday's game before the team determines his next step. The blueliner has been limited to just two games this season, as the back issues have been bothering him since training camp.

This wasn't unexpected news after the Senators returned Methot to injured reserve Monday, just over a week after he made his season debut. Methot missed over two months with the back injury the first time around, so it wouldn't be a major surprise if an absence of a similar length of time is in store for the blueliner again.
