Manny Legace is happy to be playing for AHL Springfield, although he's still hoping to get a shot with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Given that goaltenders Mark Dekanich and Curtis Sanford are hurt, it wouldn't be surprising if Legace gets called up at some point during the next couple of weeks. Legace's professional career started with Springfield during the 1994-95 season. He has gone on to post a 2.41 GAA and .912 save percentage in 365 career NHL games since then.

Manny Legace has agreed to a professional tryout with AHL Springfield.
"We asked him to come to Springfield and he was excited by the opportunity," Columbus GM Scott Howson said. "He gives us stability right now." The Jackets are expected to bring up Allen York from the minors to serve as Steve Mason's backup on Friday.

Manny Legace has parted ways with the Vancouver Canucks.
Legace was in Vancouver camp on a professional tryout, but when the Canucks told him Friday that he would not play again in the pre-season, he opted to leave the team and look elsewhere for employment. "We gave him the opportunity to stay with us and practise but he decided to see if there was something else out there," coach Alain Vigneault said. "He did a good job and I'm hoping this will maybe permit him to come back in the league."

Manny Legace will report to the Vancouver Canucks' training camp on a tryout basis.
Legace obviously won't beat out Roberto Luongo or Cory Schneider for a roster spot, but he could start the season in the AHL as the Canucks' insurance policy in case one of their two top netminders get injured. Legace had a 2.51 GAA and .919 save percentage in 40 games with the Deutsche Eishockey Liga's Iserlohn Roosters.
