Raymond secured two power-play assists Saturday in a 5-1 preseason win over the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
There's a lot of hype centered on Raymond, whom the Wings drafted fourth overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and he's been as advertised in the early going. Touted as a 200-foot player, Raymond dropped two points in his preseason debut Thursday -- which was a 6-2 win over the Sabres -- and he showed instant chemistry with team captain Dylan Larkin in this one. Raymond is making a strong case for a spot on the Opening Night roster, a decision that may be a little easier for the Wings to make following the news that Jakub Vrana (shoulder) will miss at least four months.

Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has not ruled out the possibility of Raymond making the team next season.
EDGE Analysis
The Wings are pumped up about their fourth overall pick from the 2020 NHL Draft. Raymond, a fleet-footed agitator, has spent the past three seasons honing his craft with Frolunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League. This season, he registered six goals and 12 assists over 34 games. Raymond is only 19 years and just 5-foot-10 and 161 pounds, so he'll need to bulk up in order to withstand the rigors of the NHL.

Raymond signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings on Friday. The deal will begin with the 2021-22 season.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit selected Raymond with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old winger spent the 2020-21 campaign with Frolunda HC of the SHL, picking up six goals and 18 points in 34 contests. He'll get a chance to make the Red Wings' roster during next season's training camp, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him start the 2021-22 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids.
