Lubomir Visnovsky missed Friday's practice due to an upper-body injury. Visnovsky will probably miss Sunday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He should be regarded as day-to-day beyond that, but obviously just about any injury is potentially season-ending this late into the campaign.

Lubomir Visnovsky scored on the power play and set up the other goal in a 5-2 loss to Colorado Saturday. It was Visnovsky's first two points since returning to action six games ago after missing over three months with a concussion. The blueliner will get extra rest over the Olympic break as the Islanders will not allow him to play for Slovakia. He has two goals and five points with a minus-three rating in only 14 games this season. He is worth looking at the rest of the way in deeper pools as Visnovsky has always been an offensive force.

Team Slovakia GM Otto Sykora was confused by the New York Islanders' decision to stop Lubomir Visnovsky from playing in the Winter Olympics. Visnovsky missed a little more than three months due to a concussion, but he returned on Jan. 27 and has played in five straight contests. Even still, the Islanders prevented him from representing his country. "If it's possible he can play and he says he's okay, he can play, I really don't understand why he not can play," Sykora said. Sykora plans to make his case to Islanders GM Garth Snow Friday night. Slovakia is in a tough spot as it is because Marian Gaborik is sidelined.

Lubomir Visnovsky will not be participating in the 2014 Winter Games. Visnovsky returned from a concussion on Jan. 27, but the Islanders still don't want him to play for Slovakia. "We just don't feel comfortable letting him go," Islanders GM Garth Snow said. That's a big blow for Slovakia, which will also be without Marian Gaborik. The nation has produced some star players, but they don't have a deep roster to fall back on.

Lubomir Visnovsky logged 22:08 minutes in his return from a concussion. That's quite a bit of playing time given that Visnovsky was sidelined for over three months. He had a plus-one rating in Boston's 6-3 victory over the Islanders.

Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky practiced without a non-contact jersey Friday for the first time since being concussed on Oct. 19. "Conditioning [and] a few more practices," is how coach Jack Capuano described what is holding Visnovsky back from returning. "If things progress the way they're going, he could be ready next week - I'm hoping." Capuano has had to rely on a very young and inexperienced defensive corps in Visnovsky's absence, and now through some serious growing pains, is readying for the veteran's return. "I'd like to get healthy," said Capuano, who is also missing No. 1 defenseman Travis Hamonic to a presumed concussion. "As coaches, you always want to hold guys accountable for their play, we've done that at the forward position. We haven't been healthy back there, so there aren't a whole of lot changes we could make back there, with the roster that we have."

Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) was upbeat after returning to practice on Sunday. Visnovsky hasn't played since Oct. 19. "I feel like a hockey player right now because when I wake up, my legs are sore, not just my head," Visnovsky said. "My body feels like it did before and it's a great feeling. I am happy to skate with the guys." He hasn't been cleared for contact yet, so he still shouldn't be counted on to return in the near future.

Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) returned to the New York Islanders' practice in a yellow jersey on Sunday. There's no indication how soon he'll be back this season, but they'd welcome the speedy offensive catalyst when he can. He had three points in eight games and hasn't been in action since Oct. 19. He collected 14 points in 35 games in his debut season in Long Island in 2012-13 despite protesting a trade from Anaheim.
