Stankoven signed an eight-year, $48 million contract extension with the Hurricanes on Tuesday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
EDGE Analysis
Stankoven has one year left on his entry-level contract, so his new deal will begin in 2026-27. The 22-year-old was acquired by Carolina in the Mikko Rantanen trade in March, and Stankoven will now be tied to the Hurricanes long term. The right-shot forward will likely get middle-six minutes with a chance to move into a larger role depending on his play, and he'll certainly be a factor with the man advantage. He had only nine points in 19 regular-season games after being dealt, but Stankoven looked more comfortable in the postseason, contributing five goals, eight points and 18 hits over 15 outings.

Stankoven scored the game-winning goal Monday in the Hurricanes' 3-0 victory over the Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old was the only skater to get a puck past a goalie on the night, as Stankoven burst into the Florida zone off the wing midway through the second period and went top shelf over Sergei Bobrovsky's shoulder. Carolina's final two tallies were scored into an empty net in the third period, while Frederik Andersen dazzled with his fifth career playoff shutout. Stankoven has lit the lamp in back-to-back games, and through 14 postseason games for the 'Canes, he's produced five goals and eight points.

Stankoven scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
EDGE Analysis
Both of Stankoven's points came on the power play. His goal tied the game at 1-1, but the Panthers had pulled far ahead by the time he set up Seth Jarvis' tally in the third period. This ended a four-game drought for Stankoven, who has played a supporting role in the playoffs. He's at four goals, three assists, 22 shots on net, 15 hits and a minus-2 rating over 13 playoff contests.

Stankoven scored a goal Tuesday in a 2-1 overtime win over Washington in Game 1.
EDGE Analysis
Stankoven beat Logan Thompson with a glove-side wrister from the slot at 9:42 of the third to tie the game and ultimately force overtime. The goal was his third this postseason in six games -- not bad for a 22-year-old who put up eight points, including three goals, in 19 games with Dallas last season. Stankoven appears to be a natural fit in Raleigh, skating with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Taylor Hall on the team's second line.

Stankoven scored two goals and put four shots on net in Sunday's 4-1 win over New Jersey in Game 1.
EDGE Analysis
Stankoven thrived in his first taste of postseason action with the Hurricanes. He scored both of his goals in the second period with the latter coming on a power play. Stankoven has begun producing goals more consistently with six tallies in his last 11 games. His emergence for Carolina in a middle-six role shows he's one of the league's most exciting young talents. Stankoven could be an X-factor for the Hurricanes throughout the postseason.

Stankoven scored an empty-net goal on five shots, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis

The 22-year-old has four goals over his last seven contests, and he's up to 14 tallies, 23 assists, 191 shots on net, 46 hits and a plus-3 rating over 75 appearances between the Hurricanes and the Stars this season.

Stankoven tallied a goal and put two shots on net in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Stankoven scored the first goal of the night off feeds from Andrei Svechnikov and Jack Roslovic. The 22-year-old Stankoven is up to 13 goals, 36 points and 186 shots on net in 74 appearances this year. Both of Stankoven's last two goals have come against the Capitals. While his stint with the Hurricanes has been marked by a slow start with seven points in his last 15 games, he's trending upward with three goals in his last six appearances. Stankoven is an exciting name to keep an eye on for the future, but his fantasy value is best kept to deeper leagues for the time being.

He was also involved in hostilities at the end of the contest, leading to a misconduct penalty after he mixed it up with Tom Wilson. Stankoven hasn't taken off as a scorer with the Hurricanes, but he has six points and 27 shots on net over 11 appearances since he was flipped in the Mikko Rantanen deal with the Stars. For the season, Stankoven is at 12 goals, 35 points, 175 shots on net, 45 hits and a plus-2 rating across 70 games.

The 22-year-old has settled in as a middle-six option with his new team, earning five points over 10 contests.
