The veteran defender remains a productive player and is up to 20 points (three goals, 17 helpers) while adding 48 hits and 48 blocked shots, as well as a plus-1 rating, in 39 games this season.

Letang earned an assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two PIM, two blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Maple Leafs.

If he can continue to produce at around a 40-point pace with plenty of non-scoring contributions, he's worth having on most fantasy rosters.

Letang scored a power-play goal on two shots, blocked three shots, added two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets.

Letang started slow, but he's earned four points over his last four games, accounting for all of his offense this season. His goal Saturday was the first of two late in the third period for the Penguins to help get the game to overtime. Through nine contests, the veteran defenseman has added 11 shots on net, 12 hits, 14 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating for a team that has exceeded early expectations.

With his second helper of the night -- on Justin Brazeau's insurance tally in the third period -- Letang reached 600 career assists, becoming the 20th defenseman in NHL history to reach that plateau. He's also the 10th defender to achieve the milestone with a single team, a list that includes Hall of Fame legends Bobby Orr, Larry Robinson, Denis Potvin and Nicklas Lidstrom. Letang is nearing the end of his career at 38 years of age, but he still has something left in the tank. After being held off the scoresheet through Pittsburgh's first five games of the season, he has three assists in the last two.

Letang's helper was his first point in six outings this season. He had an injury scare against the Rangers on Oct. 11, but he's been fine during the Penguins' road trip through California, playing in his usual top-four role. The defenseman has added six shots on net, nine blocked shots, eight hits and a plus-3 rating to begin the campaign, but he'll need more offense to be reliable in fantasy.

Letang was on power-play drills during practice prior to this contest, so it bodes well for his availability despite being initially labeled a game-time decision. Harrison Brunicke will be rested as the Penguins attempt to manage his workload early in the season. Letang has yet to get on the scoresheet this season, but he has five shots on net, six hits, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over three games.

The fact that Letang worked with the Pens' No. 2 power-play unit during Monday's practice would seem to indicate the blueliner will be ready to play. The veteran is poised to pair up with 19-year-old rookie Harrison Brunicke on the second pairing, while Matt Dumba makes his Penguins debut. Through three games this season, Letang remains pointless despite averaging 2:29 of ice time with the man advantage -- though he has recorded just five shots, which explains his lack of offensive production.

Letang (lower body) is day-to-day and won't participate in Sunday's practice.

Letang sustained the injury in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers. It's unclear if he will be ready to play against Anaheim on Tuesday.
