Minnesota demoted defenseman Kris Fredheim to Houston of the AHL after Saturday's game.
It looks as if Marco Scandella will be able to return to action next week so Fredheim will no longer be needed. He will be back if and when another injury on the Minnesota blueline should come to pass.

Kris Fredheim made his NHL debut on the blueline for Minnesota Thursday.
Fredheim played 10:13 in his debut with no stats. He had two points and nine penalty minutes in 15 games with Houston of the AHL. He was a solid defenseman in front of goalie Niklas Backstrom in the 1-0 shutout over Colorado. "It's fun to see those guys stepping in and playing huge. Look at Freddy," Backstrom said of Fredheim. "First NHL game, and he played huge. It's unreal." The 24-year-old played his college hockey at Colorado College and will likely have no fantasy value in pools.
