Kirk Maltby, who has a front office job now that he's retired, weighed in on the lockout. Maltby was a player during the 1994 and 2004-05 work stoppages. "It was a sad day when the whole season was lost last time," Maltby said. "I know there's a business side of it, and things have to be done, but these guys, they get paid pretty good money, on both the NHL and the NHLPA side, so hopefully, something can be done sooner rather than later." The two sides have roughly a month to work something out before the season is canceled, but they haven't had any meetings recently. Meanwhile, the NHLPA has been holding a vote on the possibility of dissolving the union.
