While he was blanked entirely in 11:13 of ice time against the Canadiens on Saturday, Labanc otherwise showed well in a bottom-six role for Team Teal, registering a goal and two helpers with a plus-2 rating in the past six games. The 20-year-old has come a long way since hearing his name called with the 171st selection (sixth round) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Labanc notched his first career goal as well as a pair of penalty minutes in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Blues.

A major scorer in junior hockey, the 20-year-old winger came to the AHL and proceeded to pour in 10 points over six games, which got him called to hockey's highest level. He's seen bottom-six minutes over his first four NHL contests, but Labanc enjoyed a bigger role Thursday, playing 15:48 and having Joe Thornton assist on his goal. He's an interesting under-the-radar pickup for owners in dynasty formats right now, but those in seasonal leagues should take a wait-and-see approach.

The 20-year-old winger has 10 points in six games in the AHL this year, and he scored 127 points in 65 OHL games last year. He's proven himself as a potent scorer against lower levels of competition, so he has the potential to become an offensive force in the NHL, although not necessarily right off the bat.

Labanc signed an entry-level contract with the Sharks on Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of the Bay Area News Group reports.
