Williams notched his 20th point of the season with an assist in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
Now one of the NHL's greybeards at 37, Williams isn't showing many signs of slowing down these days. He is third in team scoring behind Sebastian Aho (38 pts) and Teuvo Teravainen (29 pts), and remains on pace to crack the 40-point plateau for the sixth consecutive season. The Canes' captain is in the final year of a two-year, $9 million contract, so it will be interesting to see whether the team brings him back next season as a mentor for their younger players like Aho, Teravainen and rookie Andrei Svechnikov.

Williams notched a power-play goal in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard to get too excited about Williams and the Canes this season. They didn't do much to upgrade their offense during the summer, and right now it shows, with the team relying a bit too heavily on bottom-six players like Lucas Wallmark and Jordan Martinook playing top-six roles. Lately, with Jordan Staal currently on the IR with a concussion, Williams has been skating with Wallmark and rookie Andrei Svechnikov on the team's second line. The good news is, five of Williams' six goals this season have come in the past 10 games. However, don't expect that to last given how thin the Canes are up front right now.

Williams scored his third goal of the season in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs.
EDGE Analysis
Now with 13 points in 21 games, good for fourth in team scoring, the newly-appointed captain of the Hurricanes is proving to be the heart and soul of the team this year. After an embarrassing 4-1 defeat Nov. 17 against the Blue Jackets, Williams called the loss "unacceptable" and questioned his team's work ethic. The very next night against the Devils, Williams led by example and scored a goal just 22 seconds into the game and proceeded to follow that up with his second consecutive marker Wednesday against the Leafs. Now 37, Williams is certainly getting on in years, but he looks to be re-energized this season. Given his current scoring pace, he is on track to break the 50-point barrier for the third time in four seasons. He makes for a good addition to any fantasy roster if you can find him on your league's waiver wire.

Williams recorded a power-play assist for the second straight game in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Blackhawks.
EDGE Analysis
Williams still has just one goal through 16 games, but his 10 helpers put him on pace to finish somewhere in the 55 to 60-point range by season's end, which would be a career high for him. Williams has definitely surprised to the upside this season, and anyone who thought the 36-year-old's offensive production would tail off this year has (so far) been sadly mistaken. The greybeard continues to look awfully good skating on the Canes' second line alongside Jordan Staal and Brock McGinn, so keep him rolling.

Williams scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over the Wild. The points stretched his scoring streak to three games and seven points (one goal, six assists).
EDGE Analysis
His clutch reputation continues to grow. Williams found twine at the 18:51 mark of the third to force the game to overtime. And then he set up Sebastian Aho in overtime to win the game. Williams is proof-positive that old guys can deliver fantasy value. Check your wire. He might be lurking there.

Williams registered three assists in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Carolina's captain also tallied two shots on goal, but neither found twine. Williams, after being held without a point in the season's first two contests, got back to a point-a-game pace thanks to a trio of assists Sunday against New York. The 37-year-old continues to be a legitimate offensive threat despite closing in on 40, and early signs suggest the former Conn Smythe trophy winner has no plans of slowing down.

Williams skated on the first line with Jordan Staal and Warren Foegele in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Islanders. He did not factor into the scoring, but finished the season-opener with a plus-1 rating, five shots on goal and 18:49 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Williams has been a model of consistency in recent years, registering 51, 48 and 52 points, respectively, in the last three seasons. However, the newly-appointed captain of the Hurricanes is now 36 years old, so one wonders how much longer he can sustain his recent scoring pace. For fantasy purposes, as long as he continues to receive first-line duties (he skated 2:57 on the power play Thursday), he should challenge for 50 points once again this season, but keep a close eye on his ice time and shot totals.

Williams notched three power-play assists in Wednesday's 6-1 preseason win over the Lightning.
EDGE Analysis
The Hurricanes' man advantage was humming right out of the gate, as Williams teamed with promising youngster Janne Kuokkanen on all three PP tallies. Carolina's new captain will likely settle into a top-six role in the regular season as he looks to score at least 16 goals and 40 points for the sixth straight campaign.

Williams was named captain of the Hurricanes on Thursday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Between the addition of 2018 second overall pick Andrei Svechnikov and Czech prospect Martin Necas -- just to name a few -- the Hurricanes are expected to tap into the fountain of youth this season. However, Williams will lead the charge after putting up 16 goals and 35 assists over 82 games last season. The veteran is quite durable, as he's only missed two games in the last three years, so upgrade him in weekly leagues.

Williams finished third in team scoring in 2017-18 with 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists), cracking the 50-point plateau for just the sixth time in his 17-year NHL career.
EDGE Analysis
The Canes brought back the veteran Williams this season in an effort to get back to the postseason, but unfortunately fell short for the ninth consecutive year. Williams is a proven scorer and appears to have a lot left in the tank, but given his advancing age (he will be 37 years old next season), one has to wonder when his production will start to tail off. Looking ahead, he is set to enter the final year of a two-year contract with the Canes, and should return to a similar top-six role come October.
