Hodgman cleared waivers Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of Montreal's TVA Sports reports.

Hodgman, who was waived by the Blues, went undrafted and only has five games worth of NHL experience at the age of 27. He's played extensively in the minors, however, and will likely resume play with the AHL's Chicago Wolves since he officially cleared waivers.

Hodgman had inked a one-year, $575,000 contract with the Blues this past summer, but he has yet to make his season debut in the NHL. Hodgman only having five games worth of NHL experience under his belt at the age of 27 doesn't bode well for his chances of eventually landing a full-time role at hockey's highest level of competition.

The Blues agreed to terms on a contract with Hodgman on Monday. The details of the contract have not been released. Hodgman will provide the Blues with some depth at forward, but likely won't spend much time in the NHL, unless St. Louis suffers a slew of injuries at center. The 27-year-old tallied 35 points in 62 games with AHL Portland in 2014-15.

Hodgman was reassigned to AHL Portland on Monday. Hodgman was recalled from Portland on Friday, and played in Saturday's contest with the Coyotes. He recorded a shot on goal and a hit in 12:10 of ice time, and now will head back to the AHL to make room for Jordan Szwarz, who was recalled by the club in a corresponding move.

He'll likely just be on hand as extra forward depth while Martin Hanzal (lower body) and David Moss (upper body) tend to injuries.

Hodgman was assigned to AHL Portland on Sunday. Hodgman impressed enough in camp to grab a spot on the final roster, but the club decided against keeping 14 forwards with Kyle Chipchura also remaining on the roster. He will now take a spot with AHL Portland and await another opportunity.
