Abdelkader's lower-body injury is not believed to be serious, per coach Jeff Blashill, but he'll be reevaluated Friday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader left Thursday's game against the Panthers after skating for only 3:08. As noted by Khan, the two-way winger was spotted flexing his right leg on the way to the locker room. The hope is that he'll be fit to play in Saturday's road game against the Penguins. As it is, the Red Wings already have five forwards on injured reserve. If, by chance, he isn't deemed ready for the next contest, the Wings could always turn to Drew Miller, who's commonly been a healthy scratch despite this recent rash of ailments up front.

Abdelkader left Thursday's game against Florida with a lower body injury and won't return, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard to argue the winger has been Detroit's best scorer, considering he only has eight points in 21 games. However, losing a top-six forward, an alternate captain too boot, for a serious amount of time could cause ripple effects on an already scuffling team.

Abdelkader notched two assists -- including a shorthanded helper -- Friday in a 5-4 overtime win over New Jersey.
EDGE Analysis
On his first set-up, the gritty winger picked an opponent's pocket while on the penalty kill and teammate Frans Nielsen scooped up the rebound for a score. Abdelkader now has seven points (three goals, four assists) in 18 games -- if that doesn't seem like much, well.. it isn't. However, he makes up for it with a heavy 44 hits over that span.

Abdelkader was held off the scoresheet Tuesday and had a minus-1 rating on the way to a 4-3 loss to the Lightning, though he did end up with four shots, four PIM, and a pair of hits.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader is a Jack of all trades. If he goes cold in one area, he typically makes up for it in another -- that's the beauty of owning the two-way player in fantasy leagues, especially for those of you operating with roto scoring formats. Darren Helm left Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury, and we suspect the Red Wings would give Abdelkader more shorthanded ice time if the injury proves to be serious.

Abdelkader lit the lamp on the power play Sunday in a home loss to the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader's in the midst of a three-game point streak, having switched on the goal light twice with a helper in that span. The two-way winger is trending in the opposite direction of his own team, as the Wings have lost five straight games while averaging less than two goals per contest.

Abdelkader lit the lamp in Friday's loss to the visiting Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader has been quite streaky offensively this season with only three points, but he's still turning in an abundance of multi-hit efforts. In 10 games, the winger has amassed 26 hits with four or more in three of those contests; sometimes that's enough to counter his occasional dud in the attacking zone.

Abdelkader (lower body) will return to the Red Wings' lineup for Thursday's road game against the Blues, MLive.com's Brendan Savage reports.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit has been clicking on offense of late, and coach Jeff Blashill evidently doesn't want to fix something that isn't broken, as Abdelkader appears poised to slot into a bottom-six role against St. Louis, skating with Luke Glendening and Steve Ott on the Wings' fourth line. The 29-year-old winger's owners may want to keep him on the bench until he's able to work his way back into a top-six role.

Abdelkader (lower body) will not play Tuesday night against the visiting Hurricanes, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader will need more time to heal than the Red Wings originally believed, but he is still day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game against the Blues. When Abdelkader missed Saturday's game with the ailment, both Andreas Athanasiou and Steve Ott were in the lineup, which could be the case once again Tuesday.

Abdelkader (lower body) was present at morning skate Tuesday, but rotated on the fourth line and may not be ready to play in the evening's contest against the visiting Hurricanes, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader has wavered in terms of suspected availability for the upcoming contest, but this latest report suggests that he won't play. While the Red Wings almost assuredly will confirm whether he's out closer to puck drop, fantasy owners should start looking for alternatives in daily formats.

Abdelkader (lower body) will play Tuesday against the Hurricanes, per GM Ken Holland, Gregg Krupa of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader was a late scratch ahead of Saturday's game against the Sharks, which ended up as a 3-0 win. The 29-year-old is using $4.25 million against the cap this season, and has gotten off to a bumpy start with a minus-2 rating and a goal representing in lone point through five contests. In typical Abdelkader fashion, though, he has seven PIM.
