Abdelkader (hand) will miss Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Abdelkader, who will miss his second straight game, thus slots into the day-to-day category as Thursday's game against the Habs approaches.

Abdelkader (hand) will likely miss Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Per the report, Abdelkader could play in one or both of the Wings' final two regular season games after that, but it looks safe to eliminate him from Tuesday lineup consideration.

Abdelkader (hand) won't play Sunday against the Caps, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Until the Wings provide additional info, Abdelkader (who injured his hand Saturday against the Wild when he was hit by a shot) slots into the day-to-day category as Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes approaches.

Abdelkader suffered a hand injury late in Saturday's game against the Wild, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Abdelkader's status for Sunday's game against the Caps is thus clouded. Prior to injuring his hand in overtime on Saturday, Abdelkader - who has 44 points in 71 games to date -- took one shot in 16:31 worth of ice time.

Abdelkader may face a suspension after a hit from behind on Tampa's Jason Garrison who left Saturday's game with an upper-body injury.
Abdelkader did get a boarding minor on the play, but other offenders have also gotten multi-game suspensions for similar hits on players in vulnerable positions. Abdelkader will be hoping the NHL sees things differently than in those other cases - his goal Saturday extended his current streak to four games and six points, including four goals (one in each game).

Abdelkader scored his 21st goal and added a power-play assist -- his second consecutive two-point game -- in Tuesday's loss to Arizona.
With that, Abdelkader's leapfrogged the 40-point mark, and he now has more goals this year than he scored in the last two seasons combined. It's been a stunning career year for the 28-year-old winger, but it's hard to imagine that his offensive game will grow any more than it already has. In fact, regression to the mean next year wouldn't be all that surprising.

Abdelkader scored the game-winning power-play goal in overtime -- and assisted on the other -- in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Blues.
Abdelkader also rifled off a season-high seven shots on goal in what was one of his most productive contests of the season. The 28-year-old has now reached the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career -- doubling up his previous career high -- and has tallied seven goals in March after a slow middle stretch of the season.

Abdelkader scored a goal in his third straight game Saturday against the Flyers, but it wasn't nearly enough in the Red Wings' 7-2 loss.
With 19 goals on the campaign, Abdelkader is one tally shy of doubling his previous career-best mark of 10, while also matching his goal production from the last two seasons combined. It looked like regression was inevitably setting in for Abdelkader after he managed only four points in February, but he's since opened March with six goals in six games, amounting to his hottest stretch of the season.

Abdelkader scored the first two goals of the game Friday -- one at even strength and the other on the power play -- but it wasn't enough as the Wings fell 5-2 to the Flames.
Things looked good early on for Abdelkader and the Wings, as he single-handedly staked his team to a 2-0 lead just 8:12 into the game. The 28-year-old Michigan native has four points in the last three games and 34 in 56 contests this season. His 16 goals and 34 points are already career highs, while his 18 assists are tied for his best season (2013-14) in that category, as well.
