Brouillette agreed to a one-year contract Monday with Karlskrona HK of Sweden, Tim Leone of PennLive.com reports. Brouillette primarily spent the 2014-15 season with AHL St. John's, though he was called upon to play in one game with the team's parent club in Winnipeg. Rather than toiling in the minors for another season, Brouillette will elect to try his luck overseas before pondering a return to North America.

Brouillette was placed on waivers by the Jets on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.' Brouillete has played in just one game with the Jets since being recalled from AHL St. John's on Dec. 4. His placement on waivers could indicate the anticipated return of Zach Bogosian for Thursday's contest against the Coyotes, but the move will open up a roster spot for Bogosian's future return even if that doesn't come Thursday. Brouillette would likely end up in the minors if left unclaimed through waivers, but could end up sticking with the team for a little while longer if Bogosian ends up being unavailable Thrusday.

Brouillette was recalled from AHL St. John's on Thursday. With three blueliners (Toby Enstrom, Zach Bogosian and Grant Clitsome) out for multiple weeks with injuries, Brouillette was called upon to help plug a hole on the blue line. The Jets only have six healthy defensemen on their roster, so Brouillette could step into the lineup as soon as Friday against the Avalanche. However, if coach Paul Maurice should decide to move Dustin Byfuglien from forward back to defense, Brouillette would likely then serve as a healthy scratch most nights.

Brouillette was reassigned to AHL St. John's on Wednesday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. At 27 years old, Brouillette is no longer viewed as a prospect, but he does give the Jets some reliable blue line depth in the minors. He'll need an array of injuries to occur in Winnipeg before he gets an extended opportunity with the big club.

The Jets have signed Brouillette to a one-year, two-way contract worth $600,000, the Winnipeg Free Press reports. The 27-year-old Brouillette -- who spent most of the 2013-14 season with AHL Hershey, recording 20 points in 51 games -- also suited up for 10 games with the Capitals last season, notching two points. He'll bolster the Jets' organizational blue line depth.

There is a report that the Washington Capitals recalled Julien Brouillette from the minors after Saturday's game. The Capitals have Jack Hillen out and apparently were not happy with the effort of John Erskine on Saturday. Brouillette had a goal and an assist in his two NHL games before he was demoted. He is worth a flier if you are desperate for a scoring defenseman in the last two weeks of the season.

Julien Brouillette has been called up by the Washington Capitals. Brouillette is a bit of a feel good story as the organizational depth defenseman made his NHL debut at the age of 27 on Feb. 6 and recorded an assist in that contest. He ended up playing again on Feb. 8 and scored his first career goal before being returned to the minors for the Olympic break.
