The Florida Panthers will start Jose Theodore in net against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Theodore "wins" the right to play against Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis and the rest of the Lightning offense. Jacob Markstrom dropped a 3-2 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Panthers' most recent game. It should be interesting to see if Theodore can gain a true hold on the top job or if this platoon situation will continue.

Jose Theodore turned aside 28 shots in Florida's 4-3 shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets Monday night. Winnipeg at Florida. Wow, what a thriller! The former Minnesota Wild netminder left "The North Star State" this summer to bring his talents to South Beach. The 2002 Hart and Vezina trophies winner indicated from the get go his preference to play in Florida, where his parents vacation in nearby Boca Raton. Florida is an ideal choice for Theodore at this stage in his career but expectations should be low this year.

Jose Theodore is happy to help rookie goalie Jacob Markstrom. "My job is to help him, try to mentor him the best I can. I was really excited for him; he played some big games for us so it's great to see," he said. "I'm 35 years old. I've got to do a little bit extra to feel comfortable out there. At the same time I want to show Marky the right way, what you go to do to play in this league and be consistent, so I'm just trying to push him the best I can." Theodore and Markstrom have provided the Panthers with strong goaltending so far this campaign and they both have the confidence of coach Kevin Dineen. Look for them to continue to share starts until Scott Clemmensen is ready to return from injury.

Jose Theodore made 24 saves in a 3-2 win over the Sabres. Theodore is the main man in Florida and has been above average in his seven starts this season. He is now 35 and far off his star days in Montreal, but he is still capable of being an adequate starter in the NHL. Florida is destined to be lottery bound, so he isn't a great fantasy option as long as he is a Panther.

Jose Theodore (core injury) appeared to be fine during the team's morning skate on Monday, but the Panthers opted to start Jacob Markstrom against the Montreal Canadiens. Markstrom shined in the contest, making 40 saves in a 2-1 victory for his second straight win. However, coach Kevin Dineen doesn't believe his club is steering toward a goaltender controversy. "Theo's our starter and a great player," Dineen said. "He's going to get back in there soon. Jacob not only earned that start but earned that victory."

Jose Theodore left Saturday's game against the Islanders during the first minute of the third period due to cramps. "Theo has some core things that started to bother him a little bit there in the second period and I thought of pulling him halfway through the second. I was like, 'You know, I'll give Markie a chance to get warmed up,"' head coach Kevin Dineen said. Theodore had made eight saves before he left. This does not sound too serious but we will update you on his status as soon as we know more.

Jose Theodore was solid again tonight in a 3-0 loss to the Sabres Thursday night. Theodore turned aside 35 shots tonight and has been solid for his new team in five appearances this season sporting a 3-2-0 record. Theo should be started with extreme caution, especially in leagues that utilizes losses as a scoring category as the Panthers will continue to lose games and return to the bottom of the standings shortly.
