Jonathan Toews scored two goals for the Blackhawks in a 6-1 drubbing of the Blue Jackets Thursday night. Toews has netted 24 goals on the season, but it was a well-balanced attack from Chicago that led to the final result. Andrew Shaw also recorded a pair of goals in the victory while Brandon Bollig and Bryan Bickell also found the back of the net for the Hawks.

Jonathan Toews scored his 22nd goal of the season in Tuesday night's 4-2 loss to Colorado. Toews now has three goals in his past two games, to go along with 59 points through 63 games this season.

Jonathan Toews is not yet 26 but already has played major roles in two Stanley Cup championships and two Olympic gold medals. All four, in fact, have come in the past four years. He also boasts gold from two World Juniors and another from the 2007 Worlds. He scored the first goal in Canada's 3-0 triumph over Sweden in Sunday's gold medal match and further cemented himself as one of the defining - if not the defining - winners and crunch-time players of his generation. He was the best player on the biggest stage in Vancouver and remained right up there again this time around in Sochi. "He's a winner," said Team Canada defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. "Resume speaks for itself. Obviously a great leader. Plays the game the right way. Plays the game hard, every practice, every game. Great guy to learn from, great guy to follow."

Jonathan Toews first goal of the Olympics stood up as the winner as Canada defeated Sweden 3-0 to win the Gold Medal. Canada totally dominated the Swedes as they never sat back, even once they took a 3-0 lead as they kept the pedal to the metal smothering the Swedish attack at every opportunity. It is Toews second straight Gold as he was a member of the 2010 champions as well. Pittsburgh teammates Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz also scored as both their efforts were on turnovers. Shea Weber and Jeff Carter drew assists on Toews's goal. Canada was so powerful during the Games that they never trailed at any point.

Jonathan Toews is excited to renew the Canada-USA rivalry on the international hockey stage. "It's what it's all about, Canada-USA," he said. "It has become even a bigger rivalry than Canada-Russia. There's a lot of animosity, a lot of feelings like there's something to prove between both teams. It's for the chance to go and play for a gold medal. It doesn't get any better than that, playing for your country and going against the United States. There are millions of kids that grow up dreaming of this." Toews, Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp will be playing against Chicago teammate Patrick Kane in the semifinal contest on Friday.

Jonathan Toews isn't concerned that he contributed just one assist in three preliminary round games for Team Canada at the Olympics. "A couple times early in the game ... I got a little quick, a little impatient with the puck and forced a play or two," he said after Sunday's 2-1 overtime win over Finland. "But after that I think I made some good plays and it's just a matter of time before they go in. It's not frustrating, but you want to make it count every single game. We're only going to play a handful of games at this level, at this tournament. So the time is now. (I've) just got to have fun with it, and eventually it'll go in." Toews is one of several Canadian forwards who will need to start producing once the elimination games of the tournament start this week.

With the NHL break officially underway, Jonathan Toews can shift his focus to trying to win gold with Team Canada. Canada is naturally the favorite to win the tournament, although Russia, the United States, and Sweden all have strong teams capable of defeating them. "I love our chances," Toews said. "It's really exciting just to get over there with the team, to compare the experience with what it was like in Vancouver and pressure to repeat. All that thrown together, it's going to be amazing. We'll go over there with a couple teammates; we'll be facing a few as well. I'm just looking forward to every opportunity. It's going to be a great trip." Toews had a goal and eight points in seven games with Canada in the 2010 Winter Games.

Jonathan Toews has struggled on faceoffs over his last three games. He has won just 17 of his 31 draws for a 35.4 percent success rate during that span. Toews typically excels in the faceoff dot and he ranks 10th overall in the league with a 55.8 efficiency rating for the season. He should get back on track again soon.
