Ericsson will be a game-time decision for Wednesday night's game against the Oilers due to an undisclosed injury, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ericsson apparently tweaked something while picking up his child recently. The hardworking father has mostly been earning his keep as a stay-at-home defenseman for Detroit, so his absence is unlikely to affect most fantasy owners. If he doesn't go Wednesday, Xavier Oullett will likely draw into the lineup.

Ericsson registered a primary assist en route to a 3-2 shootout win over the Panthers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Wings appreciate the Swede's industrious style of play from the back end, but his offensive exploits are few and far between. In fact, this was just his third point in 12 games. It's safe to pass over Ericsson in all but the deepest league formats.

Ericsson has gone plus-3 with an assist counting as his only point through the first five games.
EDGE Analysis
Look elsewhere for offensive production, as Ericsson is mostly focused on overpowering opponents in the defensive zone and helping the Wings limit mistakes. He's doled out seven hits and four blocked shots this season, but the Swede's never eclipsed 15 points in a single season despite this being his 11th NHL campaign.

Ericsson (wrist) is healthy entering training camp, as implied by Ansar Khan of MLive.com on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Khan relayed from Wings coach Jeff Blashill that Tomas Tatar (shoulder), Luke Glendening (ankle), and "everyone else should be good to go," which seems to include the own-zone patrolman in Ericsson. Still, we're talking about a guy who hasn't topped 15 points in a single season since entering the league a decade ago, so consider this a moot point as it pertains to fantasy hockey.

Ericsson (wrist) was left off the Red Wings' protected list for Wednesday's Vegas expansion draft, The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
A 33-year-old defenseman who's coming off wrist surgery and has never cleared 15 points in a given campaign shouldn't captivate the Golden Knights.

Ericsson will miss the rest of the season as he's scheduled to undergo wrist surgery next week, Brendan Savage of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While he's far from flashy and not an offensive threat, Ericsson's injury serves up yet another blow to a Red Wings team that had already experienced a whopping 222 man games lost heading into Thursday night's action with the Capitals. Ericsson has three years remaining on his $25.5 million contract before he'll become an unrestricted free agent, so the cap relief will certainly be welcomed as he'll be on IR for the rest of this campaign.

Ericsson (wrist) has been placed on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran stay-at-home blueliner is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks with his ailment, so the team had an easy decision to shelve him on IR. Hindsight is 20-20, but now Red Wings GM Ken Holland likely wishes he could reverse the waiving of young rearguard Alexey Marchenko, who was scooped up by the Maple Leafs last week.

Ericsson (wrist) left Thursday's game in Washington, and will miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured wrist, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The blueliner took a hard hit from Nicklas Backstrom in the first period and left shortly after. With nine points in 50 games, he has been limited offensively this year, but with 63 PIM and 86 hits, he has some fringe value in certain leagues when healthy.

Ericsson left Thursday night's game in Washington with an upper-body injury and will not return.
EDGE Analysis
Ericsson presumably sustained the injury after taking a hard hit into the boards from Nicklas Backstrom behind the Red Wings' net. He did not record any stats in 6:21 of ice time before leaving the game for the night.

Ericsson has eight points in 41 games this year, and is on pace for a new career high in PIM and hits.
EDGE Analysis
The big stay-at-home rearguard has amassed 57 PIM and 74 hits thus far, putting him on pace for 100-plus PIM and nearly 150 hits -- both of which would surpass his previous career bests of 87 and 128. Of course, his lack of offensive production keeps him off the fantasy radar in most settings, but his peripheral stats could be of use in the very deepest leagues.
