Jonathan Ericsson has agreed to a six-year, $25.5 million contract extension. "I really like it here," Ericsson said. "For me to be able to get a deal done here, now, it means a lot for me and my family." He's locked up through the 2019-20 campaign.

TSN's Bob McKenzie reported Tuesday that the Red Wings are close to signing defenseman Jonathan Ericsson to a contract extension. According to McKenzie, Ericsson's new deal is expected to be four or five years, with an average value of slightly more than $4 million per season. He is eligible to be an unrestricted free agent next summer and is currently making $3.25 million.
