EDGE Analysis
Cheechoo played seven seasons in the NHL from 2002-03 to 2009-10, six of which came with the Sharks. He racked up an impressive 93 points (56 goals, 37 assists) with San Jose during 2005-06, taking home the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy for the most goals scored that season. He's spent the last four seasons producing in the AHL, but he's finally decided to hang up the skates at the age of 37.

Jonathan Cheechoo has agreed to terms with Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL.
Cheechoo had 13 goals and 32 points in 35 AHL games last season. He's put up impressive numbers in the minors for years, but that hasn't been enough to earn him another shot at the NHL level since 2009-10. Cheechoo scored 56 goals in 2005-06, but he was never able to duplicate that level of success.

Former 50 goal scorer Jonathan Cheechoo, has signed a professional tryout with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.
The Barons are reeling as they have lost the services of Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall and Justin Schultz who were recalled to the NHL once the lockout ended. The Barons are looking for some scoring and Cheechoo, who is still only 32, may be able to provide it. He had 56 points in 70 games for Peoria last season but was unable to find a team with the lockout in force. A long-time NHL scout said that Cheechoo did not adjust well to the faster game of late. "He lost his legs," said one longtime NHL pro scout. "It was sad to see, really. First it was the legs, then everything seemed to go. He couldn't get to where he needed to be (to score)."

The Blues have placed Jonathan Cheechoo on waivers for the purpose of sending him down to the AHL.
The former 56-goal scorer just can't seem to regain the magic he had in 05-06. He's tried to catch on with a number of teams since, without success. He is no longer fantasy relevant.

Jonathan Cheechoo, former NHL goal-scoring leader, believes he can make the St-Louis Blues roster out of camp.
Cheechoo's 56-goal season with the San Jose Sharks in '05-06 was followed by seasons with 37, 23, 12 and five goals before he found himself in the American Hockey League the last 1 « seasons. "I'm coming into this camp with a fresh start and trying to show what I can do out there," said Cheechoo.

Jonathan Cheechoo, 56-goal scorer for the San Jose Sharks in 2005-06, has a better chance to make the St. Louis Blues' roster because of an injury to David Perron (concussion).
Cheecho was signed by the Blues to a two-way contract over the summer and is one of four players competing for two roster spots. The other three are Chris Porter, Evgeny Grachev and Ryan Reaves. "I'm interested to see how Cheechoo plays, with the understanding that Perron's not going to be available right off the start," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. "You have to make these guys question what they thought about over the summer. If they just accept (the projected lineup), it'll be like that if they come in and accept it like that. Someone's going to push through and say, 'I see your board and I don't agree with it.'"

The 31-year-old believes new training regiment will help recapture glory.
Since leading the NHL with 56 goals for San Jose in the post-lockout season of 2005-06, Cheechoo's career plummeted right to the minor leagues. St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong felt it is worth a shot to find out if Cheechoo can resuscitate his career in the Gateway City. The cost was only a low-risk, two-way deal the forward signed in July. Cheechoo feels a new training regimen can help recapture his skating speed.

Jonathan Cheechoo's new contract is reportedly a two-way deal.
That's not surprising, seeing as Cheechoo will probably start the season in the minors. He might get a called up if one of the Blues forwards sustain an injury, but he isn't expected to have any fantasy value next season.

Jonathan Cheechoo has signed a one-year deal with the St. Louis Blues.
Cheechoo had 18 goals and 47 points in 55 games with the AHL Worcester Sharks last season. He should be regarded as a long shot to make the Blues out of training camp, but he might get called up if they need an injury replacement.
