Bernier (head) is back in Denver continuing his injury rehab, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports, adding that there will be another update on the goalie Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Semyon Varlamov reportedly will get the road start Saturday against the Flames, and Andrew Hammond -- the man that everyone used to call "The Hamburglar," will continue to serve in a backup capacity. After a horrendous 2015-16 campaign for Bernier that drove him out of Toronto upon a buyout agreement, he has a real shot at matching his 21 wins from last season, when he belonged to the Ducks. But first, he needs to get healthy.

Bernier (head) was moved to injured reserve Tuesday, per the NHL media site.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier's placement on injured reserve isn't a huge shock following the team's recall of Andrew Hammond from AHL Belleville on Saturday. Semyon Varlamov should continue to handle the bulk of the work between the pipes while Bernier is sidelined, with Hammond -- who has a fair amount of NHL experience -- also in the fold for an occasional look.

Bernier (head) didn't travel with the team and will sit out against Vancouver on Tuesday, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since Bernier didn't depart on the roadtrip, his status for Thursday against Edmonton is now in doubt as well. It's also still unclear if he's passed concussion protocol yet, and the team hasn't released any official statements regarding his health, but this will mark his second straight missed contest. As long as he's sidelined, Semyon Varlamov will assume the starting role, and Andrew Hammond will back him up.

Bernier (head) won't be available Sunday against the Oilers, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier is reportedly still going through concussion protocol as the result of an injury that took place in Friday's game against the Jets. Andrew Hammond was recalled from AHL San Antonio to serve as the backup to Semyon Varlamov in Sunday's home clash with the Oilers. Given the complex nature of concussions, this could turn up to be more than a day-to-day issue for Bernier, but we'd wait for more information from the team before making any hasty moves in the fantasy realm.

Bernier sustained a head injury in Friday night's 6-1 loss to the Jets, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier was replaced by Semyon Varlamov to start the third period after his helmet reportedly came loose in the second frame. The Avalanche didn't have an immediate update on his status, and there's still time for him to get checked out before Colorado suits up Sunday against the Oilers. He's day-to-day for now.

Bernier conceded four goals in two periods before giving way to Semyon Varlamov in a 6-1 loss to Winnipeg on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
This wasn't the way for Bernier to get himself more playing time, to make an obvious statement. He wasn't likely to earn much beyond the spot start with Varlamov back, but conceding 20 percent of the time will land you a one-way ticket to the bench. Bernier is better than he showed Friday, but opportunities might dry up even quicker after this showing.

Bernier will defend the net Friday against the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier stopped 28 shots in his last start to pick up the victory, but he also surrendered four goals in the affair and has allowed three or more pucks past him in seven of his last eight starts. With Semyon Varlamov back in the fold for the Avalanche, Bernier's workload will likely be lessened moving forward. Unless Bernier improves his play between the pipes, he could fall back into a clear backup role again, potentially pushing him further from the focal point of fantasy radars.

Bernier stopped 28 of 32 shots in Sunday's win over the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier didn't have a great night, but luckily the Avalanche were able to outscore the Sabres and get back in the win column. The backup netminder has won three of his last four games and advances to 17-10-2 on the season with a .916 save percentage. He's proving to be a reliable fantasy play whenever starter Semyon Varlamov is given the night off.

Bernier will tend the twine Sunday against Buffalo, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo Newsreports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has stepped up his game since the New Year, posting a 2.24 GAA and .936 save percentage, but was pulled in his last start Thursday against St. Louis after allowing three goals on 20 shots. On the other side, Buffalo is averaging the least amount of goals per game in the NHL (2.33) and its 30.7 shots per game ranks 23rd, making Bernier a strong candidate for a bounce back outing.

Bernier was pulled after allowing three goals on 20 shots in the first 25:05 of Thursday's 6-2 loss to St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier was blitzed from the start and actually finished with a better stat line than Semyon Varlamov, who allowed three goals on just 11 shots, including one just 2:33 after entering. This was only the second time in Colorado's past 21 games that the opposition has scored more than three regulation goals, so both goaltenders should bounce back.
