Gustavsson will hang up his skates and call it a career, Steven Ellis of The Hockey Writers reports.

Over the course of his eight-year NHL career, the netminder played for Toronto, Detroit, Boston and Edmonton, in which he went 72-67-23 with a .901 save percentage and 2.88 GAA.

Gustavsson has agreed to a three-year deal with Swedish club Linkoping, TVA Sports reports.

The goaltender will head back to his native country as his NHL production and play time have gone down in the last few years. This season, before being sent down to the minors, he played in seven games, earning an .878 save percentage and 3.10 GAA.

Not a great night for Gustavsson, who was heavily outplayed by Ottawa goaltender Mike Condon. He hadn't started a game in a month and Sunday's performance shows the reasoning behind that. With the defeat, Gustavsson is now 1-3-1 on the season with a .878 save percentage. He's barely seen any action behind Cam Talbot this season and his ten goals allowed in his last two starts certainly won't do anything to change that.

Gustavsson last saw action in the crease Dec. 8, but will get a chance to slot back in for the team's second game of a back-to-back set Saturday and Sunday. He surrendered six goals on 31 shots in his last outing and owns subpar numbers in the crease overall this season, posting a 2.90 GAA and .893 save percentage in six appearances. He will look to better those stats Sunday against an Ottawa club that notched 2.92 goals per game in December, but the opposition rides a four-game losing streak into Sunday's matchup.

Gustavsson was battered for six goals on 31 shots in Thursday's loss to Philadelphia.

This was a real seesaw game and easily Gustavsson's worst appearance in limited work this year. The Oilers went up 2-0, only to see the Swedish netminder give up three goals in a span of 2:12 during the second period. They stormed back with three straight goals of their own to go back up 5-3 -- but then Gustavsson gave up the game's final three goals, including Michael Raffl's game-winner with 1:29 left. He hasn't seen much work in a backup role behind Cam Talbot, and this outing certainly won't change that.

Gustavsson will start between the pipes in Thursday's road game against the Flyers.
