And still, Tavares has 31 points, including 14 goals, in 34 games this season. He's caught in an Arctic air mass; rely on his numbers and not his name right now. Tavares needs to be on your bench until El Nino warms him up.

Regardless, he has played the top-line center role admirably in the absence of Auston Matthews (lower body) and will be an elite option in fantasy for the rest of the season.

The first was a tap-in between Darcy Kuemper's pads; the second was a backhand past the netminder's outstretched left pad and off the post.
