John Negrin suffered an undisclosed injury in a 4-1 loss to Edmonton Wednesday. He did not return to action and there is no word on when he will be able to skate. He is slated for the minors this season so he has no fantasy value.

The Winnipeg Jets have acquired John Negrin from Calgary in exchange for Akim Aliu. Negrin has an assist in 26 AHL contests and six points in nine ECHL games this season. He's just 22 and still has a realistic shot of someday landing a relatively secure position on an NHL roster.

Calgary's 70th overall pick in the 2007 entry draft enters his fifth Flames' prospect camp with high expectations. Before injuries began plaguing Negrin's road to the NHL he was touted as a strong skating offensive defenseman, capable of quarterbacking the power play. Since the departure of Dion Phaneuf the Flames have been struggling to fill the offensive void. The Flames' organization believes strongly that Negrin has the potential to put up offensive numbers in the NHL. A left knee injury may have sidelined Negrin for most of last season, but keep in mind the West Vancouver native is merely 22. The young blue-liner maintains he is healthy and ready to compete for a spot.

Defenseman John Negrin hopes to be healthy for the 2011-12 season. Negrin hoped for the same thing last season as he played only 45 games in 2009-10 in the AHL before a broken wrist and knee injury derailed his season. It was even worse last season as knee surgery curtailed his season to only the final 24 games in which he managed six helpers. "It's been a long year and a half," says Negrin. "But you've got to be positive - it's part of hockey and it happens to everyone. Hopefully, all my injuries are out of the way now and I can move forward and be healthy." Negrin has a lot of talent and could be in the NHL for good by 2012-13. He was highly touted after being his first training camp in 2008 and could be a solid blueliner for the Flames in the years to come.
