Klingberg agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million contract with San Jose on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Including the playoffs, Klingberg played in 30 games last year as he worked his way back from a long-term hip injury. In those outings, the veteran blueliner garnered just two goals and six assists to go with 45 blocks and 29 hits. At this point in his career, Klingberg might have to settle for a spot on the third pairing but should still be in the mix for power-play minutes.

Klingberg scored a power-play goal on two shots, added three hits and blocked four shots in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Stars in Game 3.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg's first goal of the postseason ended a five-game point drought. The defenseman has been steady in his role for the Oilers, providing a little depth scoring without costing his team in the defensive zone. He's produced four points, 18 shots on net, 21 hits, 24 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 13 playoff outings.

Klingberg provided an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and three blocked shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Golden Knights in Game 2.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg has handled top-four minutes this postseason, and he's doing alright with them. The veteran defenseman has three assists, 13 shots on net, eight hits, 15 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through seven playoff contests. Klingberg probably won't be a leader in any area defensively, but he's doing enough to stay in the lineup.

Klingberg posted an assist, five shots on goal and three hits in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Kings in Game 5.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg has racked up two assists, nine shots on net, five hits, six blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over four playoff appearances. The 32-year-old is seeing top-four minutes but just traces of power-play time for the Oilers. Klingberg has a good track record on offense, but he can be a defensive liability, so it wouldn't be surprising if Edmonton limited his usage later in the postseason.

Klingberg notched an assist and three blocked shots in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Kings in Game 2.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg was activated off long-term injured reserve prior to Game 2 and drew in to play a bottom-four role. He set up a Leon Draisaitl tally in the second period. Klingberg has a history as a scoring defenseman, but injuries have limited him to just 25 games across the last two regular seasons. He had four points, 19 shots on net and 13 blocked shots in 11 outings in 2024-25, and if his defense falters, he may not be an everyday part of the Oilers' lineup.

Klingberg (lower body) will be in action for Wednesday's Game 2 matchup with Los Angeles, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg has played in just one of the Oilers' previous 22 games but will return to the lineup for Game 2. Given his injury history, Klingberg will likely see more limited minutes in the third pairing alongside Jake Walman. With the veteran Klingberg back from injury, Josh Brown will be dropped from the lineup as a healthy scratch.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch relayed that Klingberg (lower body) is a "very good possibility" to play in Game 2 against the Kings on Wednesday, according to Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg is still on long-term injured reserve -- the right-shot blueliner missed all but one of the last 21 games of the regular season due to his lower-body injury. If the 32-year-old suits up for Game 2, he'll likely receive sheltered minutes in a third-pairing role considering his long layoff from game action. Klingberg has recorded eight goals and 31 assists over 63 career playoff appearances.

Klingberg (lower body) will remain out of the lineup for Game 1 against the Kings on Monday, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Previous reports indicated that Klingberg might be ready to play Monday but it appears that was premature. The 32-year-old defenseman was in the lineup for just one of the Oilers' last 21 contests, registering two shots, one hit and one blocked shot in 16:10 of ice time versus the Kraken on March 27. Even once cleared to play, Klingberg may struggle to break into the lineup ahead of Ty Emberson or Josh Brown.

Klingberg (lower body) will probably come off long-term injured reserve ahead of Game 1 versus the Kings on Monday, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg missed 20 of 21 games down the stretch but could be available for the beginning of the playoffs. He produced one goal, three assists, 19 shots on net, 13 blocked shots and five hits across 11 regular-season outings in 2024-25.

Klingberg (lower body) was placed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Klingberg will miss the remainder of the regular season. At this point, he probably won't be considered one of the Oilers' six best defensemen even if he is healthy enough to play in the playoffs. His move to LTIR will free up some cap space as the Oilers deal with an injury crisis late in the season.
