Johan Hedberg will get the start against the Islanders Saturday night. Martin Brodeur played and won Friday night and will get the night off. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

Johan Hedberg blocked 23 of 24 shots on Sunday as the Devils upended Pittsburgh by a score of 3-1. Hedberg has been sensational in his three starts this season, with a 2-1-0 record, 0.65 GAA and .973 save percentage. As great as Martin Brodeur's resurgence has been, Hedberg has now outplayed him for two straight campaigns.

Johan Hedberg will be between the pipes Sunday on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hedberg stopped every shot he saw in his last start a week ago as the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Islanders 3-0. Hedberg is usually a solid play as a spot starter for those of you in daily transaction leagues but he's obviously a very risky start tonight against the red-hot Penguins.

Johan Hedberg stopped every shot he saw on Sunday as the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Islanders 3-0. Hedberg made all 22 saves and has stopped 49 out of 50 shots this season. He's pushed Martin Brodeur for starts (and maybe even a piece of the 1A/1B pie at times), but it seems like the Devils are sticking with their aging franchise goalie for the most part in 2013.

Johan Hedberg will play between the pipes on Sunday. Martin Brodeur has already been assigned to Saturday's game and he won't be playing on back-to-back days. Hedberg kicked out 27 of 28 shots in a shootout loss to the Bruins on Tuesday.

Johan Hedberg stopped 27 of the Bruins' 28 shots Tuesday, but was saddled with a 2-1 shootout defeat. In his first start of the season, the diminutive goalkeeper was exceptional, as he almost helped hand the Bruins their first regulation loss of the campaign. With both Hedberg and Martin Brodeur looking sharp, it's clear the New Jersey system is once again conducive to strong defensive play.

Johan Hedberg will get his first start of the season on Tuesday night in Boston. Hedberg hasn't played since he appeared in relief of Martin Brodeur during the playoffs back on April 17, 2012. He was a dependable backup last season for Martin Brodeur, but the long layoff could result in some rust versus the Bruins.

Johan Hedberg is still optimistic that the 2012-13 season can be saved. "I'm always optimistic something good is going to happen," said the New Jersey backup goalie. "It's been a pretty slow week, and that's hard. So, hopefully, it's going to pick up again, and we can get to some common ground." Hedberg sat in on two negotiation meetings last month.

Johan Hedberg is joining the camp of players who claim that reducing NHL salaries will present the KHL with an opportunity to lure NHL stars like Ilya Kovalchuk and Alex Ovechkin. "Look at the comments made by the Russian players," Hedberg said. "If the league won't honor contracts they would lose the best Russians. Maybe all of a sudden you don't have the Russians here. Then the NHL isn't what it used to be. If you want to have the best league in the world and the supreme place to play, I don't these lockouts are helping. There are other leagues around the world getting stronger." Hedberg added that if young Russian players can make comparable money in the KHL, they might be more inclined to simply stay there if guys like Ovechkin and Kovalchuk are in the KHL too. There might come a day when the NHL has to more passionately compete for talent with the KHL, but right now it seems like something the players are saying for the sole purpose of trying to scare the league into making concessions.

Like many of his fellow players, Devils goalie Johan Hedberg expressed disappointment at the state of the NHL labor negotiations. "It seems like it's the NHL's way or the highway," Hedberg said. "These are not negotiations if they want to do it that way, and they know that too. I'm pretty sure they understand too where we're coming from and what's right and what is wrong. I believe our proposals were very, very fair and we believe we're doing the right things." The union proposed three separate five-year deals Thursday that either reached the 50-50 revenue split eventually or immediately, and they were all shot down by the owners.
