Look for Johan Hedberg to get the start against the Hurricanes Saturday night. He rebounded nicely Thursday by stopping 23 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over Buffalo after being yanked in a 5-2 loss to Tampa Tuesday.

Johan Hedberg rebounded in a nice way Thursday, making 23 saves, with no goals allowed in the shootout. Hedberg has not been all that good since filling in for Martin Brodeur, and he was especially bad against the Lightning when he gave up three goals on 11 shots before being pulled in the second period. Thursday was a different story, though. "That felt good. I won't lie to you," Hedberg said. "[Thursday] I got some breaks. Let's put it that way. They hit some posts. We got a couple of goals. Sometimes that's the difference. It's a game of margins sometimes and I think we deserved to win." Hedberg is not a recommended start in fantasy leagues.

Johan Hedberg stopped 23 of 25 shots for the Devils in a 3-2 shootout win over Buffalo Thursday. This contest appeared it was going to be the eighth consecutive loss for Hedberg until his teammates bailed him out with two late goals to tie the score. He will continue to be the Devils primary netminder during Martin Brodeur's absence, which is scheduled to last a few more weeks.

Johan Hedberg will start again for the Devils on Thursday night. Coach Pete DeBoer was quick to make the call following Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay when he said, "We're going to go back with Heddy." Hedberg was pulled after surrendering three goals on 11 shots and he's lost his last six appearances in the crease (0-5-1) while posting an .838 save percentage. We can't recommend you staying with him though.

Johan Hedberg's struggles continued Tuesday night when he yielded three goals on 11 shots in New Jersey's 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay. Keith Kinkaid got his first taste of NHL action in relief and made 12 stops on 13 shots. Hedberg hasn't been able to hold the fort in the absence of Martin Brodeur, so Kinkaid could get the nod Thursday if Brodeur isn't ready to return from his back injury.

Pete DeBoer announced Johan Hedberg will start again Tuesday night. Hedberg has struggled mightily since starter Martin Brodeur was injured. The man affectionately known as Moose is just 0-4-1 in five straight starts and DeBoer recently admitted he's "a little" concerned about Hedberg's confidence level. However, it looks like DeBoer is hoping his backup netminder plays through the struggles and rediscovers his confidence on the ice.

Coach Peter DeBoer said he's "a little bit" concerned about Johan Hedberg's confidence level right now, but he hadn't made a decision on who would start Tuesday against Tampa. Hedberg has posted a 0-4-1 record since Martin Brodeur sustained a back injury. He allowed four goals on 23 shots in Monday's loss to Toronto. He wasn't sure if he would get the nod for Tuesday's contest following the match, but said he's "ready to play" if he gets the nod. "I've got to think about it overnight," DeBoer said. "I haven't made any decisions yet." Keith Kinkaid may get his first NHL start if the Devils decide to give Hedberg a breather.

Johan Hedberg allowed four goals on only 23 shots in the Devils' 4-2 loss to Toronto Monday night. The Devils needed much more from their backup goaltender and didn't get it once again tonight. Hedberg continues to see time in goal while Martin Brodeur nurses a sore back. Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said earlier today that Brodeur remains day-to-day and isn't expected to play in Tuesday's contest either. In the meantime, Hedberg has gone winless in his last six outings now, sporting a 0-5-1 record during that span.
