Johan Franzen suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday. Franzen wasn't available for the third period of Detroit's 2-0 loss to San Jose as a result. "They'll go back and take a look at him," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "Obviously he couldn't play (in the third). It was serious enough to leave the game." Franzen previously missed seven contests this season with a hip injury.

The Detroit Red Wings have scored power play goals in each of their last six games on the road. The Red Wings really struggled early on as they were scoreless on the power play during the first 10 road games. Johan Franzen and Pavel Datsyuk found the back of the net on Monday with the man-advantage.

Johan Franzen has three assists in his last two games. Franzen has been in a bit of a slump this season with only five goals and 14 points in 22 games but now looks to be picking it up again. He has 31 penalty minutes and a plus-six rating so his fantasy value helps in all categories, especially once he starts finding the back of the net once again.

Even though he didn't manage to score, Johan Franzen put forth a respectable effort in the Detroit Red Wings' 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. The big, talented and injury-prone forward only has two goals and zero assists in 11 games since Feb. 7. Still, he's firing a lot of SOG lately; he had six in each of the last two games and in four of his last six contests (27 overall in that span). When you consider his skill, that trend has to go the other way soon enough. Before this slump, he was his usual borderline point-per-game self.

Johan Franzen scored his fifth goal of the season in the Red Wings 3-2 shootout loss to Columbus Sunday. Franzen's goal came with the man advantage, as many of them do for The Mule, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Wings from dropping both ends of the back-to-back with Columbus. Jakub Kindl also tallied for Detroit in a losing effort.

Johan Franzen scored his fourth goal of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Colorado. The marker snapped a six-game pointless streak for Franzen, who just returned from a hip injury at the end of February. He has 10 points in 16 games. Detroit defender Niklas Kronwall scored the game's winning goal.

Johan Franzen (hip) will be available for Wednesday's game against Los Angeles. Detroit has already activated him off of the injured reserve list. The timing of Franzen's return is fortunate, given that Detroit might be without Valtteri Filppula (undisclosed).

The Detroit Red Wings could get Johan Franzen (hip) and Kyle Quincey (left leg) back on their upcoming road trip. General manager Ken Holland was optimistic that both players could return on this two-game trip that begins Thursday. Holland also said it's possible Brendan Smith (shoulder) and Carlo Colaiacovo (shoulder) could return to the lineup this week. Stay tuned.

Johan Franzen (hip) will not be available for either of Detroit's games this weekend. "We're playing it smart," Franzen said. "It stinks being out, especially when we're losing. It doesn't make it any easier being on the side." He has three goals and nine points in 12 games this season.
