Joey MacDonald has signed a two-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. The team didn't immediately disclose the financial terms. MacDonald is currently second in Detroit's goaltending depth charts, but we wouldn't be surprised if the Red Wings sign someone else to fill the backup job. If that happens, MacDonald will start the season in the AHL and be called up in the event of an injury.
