Ward scored the game-tying goal in Saturday's shootout win over the Ducks.
EDGE Analysis
That's the second goal in the last three outings for Ward, who has been a healthy scratch on several occasions this season. The fourth-liner is seeing very limited minutes and doesn't offer much from a fantasy perspective right now. Monitor the situation, however, as Ward is only a couple years removed from a 21-goal season and can be a serviceable depth scorer if he remains in the lineup.

Ward played just 9:40 during Thursday's 2-1 loss to Boston.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old veteran winger has only dressed for four of nine games this season and has yet to mark the scoresheet. Ward recorded 21 goals and 43 points two seasons ago in his debut campaign with the Sharks, but unless he climbs the depth chart in short order, those numbers are likely out of reach. He's off the fantasy radar for the time being.

Ward (shoulder) took part in Friday's training camp session, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward appears to be ready for the upcoming season after having his shoulder surgically repaired in the offseason -- an ailment that plagued him throughout the 2016-17 campaign. With the winger healthy, he could be tasked with an increased role following the departure of Patrick Marleau. The 36-year-old failed to break the 30-point barrier for the first time since the lockout shortened 2012-13 season last year, which fantasy owners will be hoping was an outlier -- not Ward's new normal.

Ward (shoulder) is on the list of available players for Wednesday's expansion draft, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Sharks were willing to gamble on Ward not being selected given his age and the fact that he has just one year remaining on his contract. Some of the other names available to the Golden Knights from San Jose are likely more attractive anyway, so it seems unlikely the 36-year-old winger will see his name as part of the expansion draft Wednesday evening.

Ward played with a minor shoulder injury this season, recently elected to have it surgically repaired, and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 campaign, Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward's shoulder injury might help explain why he had something of a down season in 2016-17. While he's never been a truly prolific scorer, the 36-year-old's 29 points this season represents his lowest total since 2011-12, if you don't count the 2012-13 campaign when he played just 39 games. It's also a massive drop-off from last season when he posted 43 points in only one more game played. Ward will look to rehab and mount a comeback season once training camp opens in the fall.

Ward dished out two helpers in Tuesday's 7-0 Game 4 win over Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
Ward's assists came 3:06 apart in the second period. He saw 3:46 of power play time during his team's eight opportunities with the extra man, but all of the veteran winger's production came at even strength. With three points through four games in this series, Ward now has 51 in 81 career postseason appearances.

Ward was a healthy scratch for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Flames, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward joins Justin Braun, Logan Couture, Tim Heed, Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Joel Ward in the press box as the Sharks are taking no chances with an injury in a meaningless game leading up to the playoffs.

Ward extended his pointless streak to seven games and skated to a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Given Team Teal's high-scoring output, it's a shame that Ward fell on the undesirable side of the plus-minus. He's been a huge liability in the defensive zone, going minus-8 over the scoreless stretch. The Sharks and fantasy owners alike depend on the 36-year-old for special teams contributions, including work on the penalty kill, but he's fading at arguably the worst possible time.

Ward has managed just three points on the power-play so far after a 12-point effort with the man advantage last year.
EDGE Analysis
The lack of production isn't terribly surprising considering his power-play time has been more than chopped in half (1:07 vs. 2:32 last year). Even worse, Ward has found twine just seven times after scoring 21 goals in 2015-16, and his 23 points are well off the pace of the impressive 43 he put up in his first season in NorCal.

Ward scored a goal and added an assist during Monday's win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
After posting 21 goals and 43 points last year, the second-year Shark has just four goals and 16 points through 42 games this season. It's been a disappointing campaign, and Ward's deservedly been off the fantasy grid. One obvious explanation of his offensive decline is his lack of power-play production. He has failed to register a point with the man advantage after scoring 12 power-play points in 2015-16. Still, this was Ward's third multi-point showing in six games, so perhaps he has a strong finish ahead. It's probably still ill-advised to rely on him in most fantasy settings at this point, though.
