Cannata -- who was up with the Avs as an emergency third goalie -- was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Tuesday, TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata's promotion was likely to get him some extra work while the Eagles had a few days off before the Calder Cup Playoffs start Friday. The 29-year-old actually spent most of the year with ECHL Utah, where he went 17-18-4 with a .904 save percentage. Set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, the 2009 sixth-round pick could struggle to secure a two-way deal from an NHL club.

Cannata inked a one-year contract with Colorado on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Considering the team recently acquired Philipp Grubauer, it's unlikely Cannata will make his NHL debut this season, instead spending another year developing his game in the minors. In fact, the netminder saw action in just five AHL contests last year, having logged the majority of 2017-18 with ECHL Colorado. With the Eagles, the 28-year-old went 21-5-1 with a .931 save percentage.

Cannata was waived by the Avalance on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sportsreports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata -- who split time between the AHL and ECHL last year -- is still looking to make his NHL debut. Suiting up in an NHL contest is probably a long shot for the netminder as he will probably spend the 2017-18 campaign with AHL San Antonio, where he will compete with Spencer Martin for ice time.

Cannata signed a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata split time between the AHL and ECHL last season -- suiting up in a total of 31 contests and posting a combined 16-8-1 record. The 27-year-old is still looking to make his NHL debut, something that is unlikely to occur this season given the quality of the netminders ahead of him in the Avs organization.

Cannata was traded from the Capitals to the Avalanche on Wednesday in exchange for defenseman Cody Corbett.
EDGE Analysis
Washington acquired goaltending prospect Pheonix Copley earlier in the week and so likely felt the need to get some value out of Cannata before the trade deadline. Despite a solid 11-5-1 record, Cannata's numbers have been far from outstanding this year -- he shows a .876 save percentage and a 3.22 GAA through 22 total appearances. Even so, the 27-year-old will have a better chance to excel in the Colorado system, as the team currently does not have a clear stud goaltender in their system.

Cannata was waived by Washington for the purpose of reassignment Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata has yet to make his NHL debut and it appears he will have to wait a little bit longer as he appears destined for the minors after hitting the waiver wire. The Merrimack College product spent the 2015-16 season with AHL Utica where he logged a 2.52 GAA including a pair of shutouts. Barring injury, the Caps are unlikely to call-up the netminder this season, severely limiting his fantasy value.

Cannata was reassigned to AHL Utica on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata was recalled on Dec. 22 to serve as Jacob Markstrom's backup while Ryan Miller (muscle cramps) worked his way back from injury. The 26-year-old netminder didn't receive a start in goal during his stay with the big club, and has yet to make his NHL debut. Cannata's demotion Thursday strongly indicates that Miller is ready to return to action.

The Canucks are set to recall Cannata from the minors.
EDGE Analysis
Cannata, who reportedly will serve as the backup to Jacob Markstrom, ascends to the NHL with Ryan Miller cramping up recently and unavailable for the evening contest. Through 15 games with the Utica Comets this season, Cannata has crafted a 2.49 GAA and .907 save percentage to go along with a 9-5-2 record. He has yet to make his NHL debut.

Cannata surrendered two goals on 18 shots in Tuesday's preseason win over San Jose. Cannata split the game with fellow goalie Eddie Lack, who stopped all 16 shots he faced. Cannata made some good saves on Tuesday, but was beat by Sharks' veterans Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau. Cannata, 24, is expected to spend this season in Utica with the Comets. He currently sits behind Ryan Miller, Lack, and Jacob Markstrom on the Canucks' depth chart.

Joe Cannata has agreed to terms with the Vancouver Canucks. Cannata had a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage in 28 AHL games in 2013-14. He'll start next season in the minors and it wouldn't be surprising to see him spend the entire campaign at that level.
