Williams has signed a one-year contract with Kolner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The former Penguins forward all of 2014-15 with in the AHL with the Oklahoma City Barons, tallying 53 points in 72 games with the club. At 34 years of age, Williams would be hard pressed to find a gig anywhere in the NHL, so he'll instead take his talents overseas.

Jason Williams has agreed to terms with the AHL Oklahoma City Barons. The Barons' are affiliated with the Edmonton Oilers. He had eight goals and 18 points in 32 games with Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss league last season. The 33-year-old forward is a veteran of 455 NHL games.

The Penguins recalled forward Jason Williams from Wilkes-Barre (AHL). A depth forward, the 31-year-old Williams played in seven games earlier this season with the Penguins. He had a goal and an assist Dec. 17 against Buffalo to account for his scoring.

The Penguins have enough healthy forwards right now and Williams was only an insurance policy in case someone was unable to play. He's a great addition to any organization's depth, but he isn't expected to have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

Jason Williams didn't play on Friday despite being recalled prior to the contest. "Really [it's] just an indication that we don't have any extra players [at forward]," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. In other words, Williams is the Penguins' insurance policy in case someone is unable to play.

Pittsburgh has summoned Jason Williams from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. It's unclear if he will play on Friday night against Montreal though. Williams has two points in seven games with the Penguins this year and 23 points in 28 contests with the Baby Pens this year.
