Potential unrestricted free agent defenseman Jason Garrison has received a contract offer from the Florida Panthers. Florida GM Dale Tallon said he is waiting to hear back from Garrison's agent. "We're going right to the wire with this," he said. "We'll talk with his agent [Thursday] night in Pittsburgh face to face. There's an offer on the table and we're waiting for them to counter. We're optimistic, that's all I could hope for." Garrison had a breakout year in 2011-12 with 16 goals and 33 points in 77 games.

Jason Garrison could give the Red Wings a lot of what they need on defense. Nicklas Lidstrom has retired and Brad Stuart is back in San Jose. The Wings need help and they, like other teams, are very interested in the Nashville duo of Shea Weber and Ryan Suter. They should also be looking at the 27-year-old Garrison, who is coming of a nice season for the Panthers that included 16 goals.

Jason Garrison's first priority may be re-signing with the Florida Panthers, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't consider other offers with unrestricted free agency on the table this summer. "I have such a good thing here in Florida," said Garrison on Wednesday. "I love the organization and my teammates. I have so many good friends and I'd hate to see myself playing somewhere else. But, I mean, ultimately it's not all up to me. So it's just kind of a waiting game now to see whether I'm going to re-sign with the Panthers. As it gets closer to that end of June-July 1 date, I'll obviously start weighing my options and seeing what's out there." The White Rock, BC native said he would listen if the Vancouver Canucks touched base with him, but it's unclear what their interest level is regarding the 27-year-old rearguard. Garrison enjoyed a career-year in 2011-12 with 16 goals and 33 points in 77 games.

The Florida Panthers are interested in re-signing Jason Garrison. Garrison is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's already expressed a desire to remain in Florida, so the two sides should be able to work something out before the free agent market opens.

A lower body injury will keep Jason Garrison out of tonight's Game 6 at New Jersey. The fact Garrison did not participate in Monday's practice was indication he is not healing and quickly as hoped. The defenseman, who has been struggling with the ailment for a few days, was a late scratch for Game 4 and sat out Game 5. He was 1-1-2 and averaged 22:18 TOI in the first three games of the series

Jason Garrison (lower body) didn't participate in the Panthers' practice on Monday. Garrison hasn't been ruled out for Tuesday's game, but obviously this isn't a good sign. He hasn't played since April 17.

It seems as if Jason Garrison (lower-body injury) might not be available for Monday's game At least that how it seems to some of his teammates. When asked about Garrison, Mikael Samulesson indicated that the Cats could not count on the defenseman's shot from the blueline "anymore". The Panthers were given the day off Saturday, so an official update on Garrison will likely not be available until after Monday morning's skate.
